Dragonball GT Episode 16: The Mechanical Planet – M2. Gyru is a Traitor?

This is a summary of the subbed Japanese episode 16. This episode also is the same as the English DBGT episode 1: A Grand Problem, but with big differences and for obvious reasons: People watching the English episodes haven’t seen the past 15 episodes and don’t know what’s been happening prior to the beginning of the episode.

Anyway – The episode starts with it appearing that Pan is flying the spaceship. She flies it into a fleet of enemy ships. They start attacking but eventually the enemies destroy their ship. Then the lights turn on and it was Pan playing Gyru in a video game and lost again. Trunks walks in and pan is yelling at Gyru to play her again after he beat her 50 times in a row.

When Trunks gets Pan to stop chasing Gyru, Gyru flies over to a window as they all pass M2, the planet Gyru was created on. Later that night while everybody is asleep, Pan wakes up to see Gyru staring out the window at his home planet.

The next day Pan and Gyru convince Trunks and Goku to turn around and stop at planet M2 for only a day. When they land, they get out and search a nearby city for supplies. Goku climbs up a tree and tries to eat an apple, but everything on the planet is made of metal.

While in the city, they can’t find anything useful because everything is metal. The city appears to be abandoned so Goku yells to see if anything would respond and an alarm goes off. Meanwhile, Gryu flies away to get the “Sigma Force.” When Gyru returns, he leads them into an alley where the powerful Sigma Force ambushes them. One member uses sleeping gas to capture Goku and Trunks. Gyru tells the Sigma Force not to do anything about Pan because Dr. Myuu only wanted Goku and Trunks.

ON A SIDE NOTE: this is where the English episode starts. While they are being gassed, there is a flashback, which supposedly will summarize the last 15 episodes for all the English viewers who won’t be able to see them because they are never dubbed into English. The flash back lasts for about 14 minutes.

The Sigma Force leaves with Goku and Trunks. They left Pan behind as she is thinking about why Gyru led them to his planet knowing all along that he was a spy for Dr. Myuu. The episode ends as Pan flies off in the direction that the Sigma Force took Goku and Trunks.

Episode:16

While everyone is on the ship traveling to the next planet they pass planet M2 which is the home of Gill. Pan persuades Trunks to go back and go to planet M2 because Gill misses it. When they reach planet M2 Goku eats an apple but it is metal and everything on it is metal. 3 of Dr.Myuu's robots come and find Goku and Trunks. With a sneaky move they get both of them (Goku and Trunks) and take them back to the lab for testing. Gill backstabs them and goes with them. Pan is left there alone. -

   This episode basically shows Pan sneaking around General Rilldo's Tower.  Pan reaches  Goku and Trunks (who were captured by Rilldo's robot team) .  Goku and Trunks wake up (they were put to sleep with sleeping gas).  Goku starts to fight the robots.  Pan gets knocked out.  Trunks tae\kes her to the ship.  The episode ends with Goku starting to fight the robots.  GILL (the robot that swallows the dragon ball radar) betrays Goku,Trunks, and Pan.  GILL is no longer a good guy (unless he has a change of heart).

           Voices- 5 voices are O.K. , but Funimation could have made Goku's voice a little more mature and pan's voice a little more young.  Theme Song kind of stinks.  The original Japanese song (which is "The Dan Dan song") was a little better.
