Subject: Re: would you please rate my deck? Trunks Red CS ---------- Original Message ---------------------------------- From: Julian T Hi, my name is Julian Terzini and I've been playing DBZ cards for quite some time now (somewhere during the Trunks Saga). Anyway, usually I have a pretty easy time cutting out the useless cards, making my decks better and all that good stuff, but lately this deck has been confusing me. It seems I either destroy them within a combat or two, or I loose a sad and pathetic game. Anyway, enough talking ^_^ Here's my deck, I hope you can think of more than I can. Main Personality: 4 Trunks P14 (Trunks Saga) Trunks the Quick 174 (Cell) Trunks, Time's Hero 195 (Cell) Trunks, the Powerful 127 (Cell) Mastery: Cell Sensei: East Kai Red Sniping Shot x3 Red Tilted Punch x2 Combats: Vegeta's Suprise Defense x1 Smokescreen x3 Red Double Strike x2 Mother's Touch x1 Red Gambit x3 Non-Combats/Drills: Red Meditation Drill x1 Enraged! x1 Who's da Man! x2 Red Knee Pick Drill x1 Red Striking Drill x1 Burning Rage!x1 Tien's Mental Condidioning x3 Red Physical Drill x1 Energy Attacks: Red Energy Rings x3 Phyiscal Attacks: Red Flying Attack x3 - Too weak now. Red Back Kick x3 - Good Trunks Sword Position 4 x4 - If you go Sword, run this. Otherwise no. Tien and Yamcha Strike x3 - This Tuff Enuff only. Red Knee Bash x2 - Too weak now. Red Palm Heel Strike x1 - Worthy of a Bookmark. Red Power Rush x3 - Decent, try out Gohan's Power Hit. Red Round Kick x1 - Worthy of a Bookmark. Red Power Punch x1 - Nah. Red Lifting Kick x1 - Depends. Red Reverse Punch x2 - Worthy of a Bookmark. Red Overbearing Attack x2 - If you go for anger, run 3. Red Shattering Leap x3 - Great. Red Whiplash x3 - Sure. Red Pulverize x1 - Depends on the Drills. Still good. >> You should run other attacks like Gohan's Kick. Gohan's Heroic Uppercut is pretty decent. If you want to be brave, Trunks Speedy Flight is a new card that is really good, but good luck getting it. Kid Buu cards like Red Axe Heel Kick, Red Aerial Force, and Red Anihillation are good. Don't forget your Red Lightning Slashes as well. << Energy Blockings: Red Rapid Deflection x1 - Good. Energy Ricochet x2 - It could work. Rend Energy Shield x2 - I like this card, depends on your preference. >> Don't forget Aura. You could run a few more energy blocks, maybe ones that give you anger like Red Energy Defensive Stance for the nice Endurance. I also like Goku's Flight as well. Frieza's Force Bubble and Goku's Running Defense are good. You also could try out Red Escape for kicks. << Physical Blockings: Trunks Swiftly Moving x1 (don't ask, I just noticed it too, gonna change that ASAP) - Good card, you can try it out. Tien's Block x1 - I like this, but only if are going to run them drills. Red Counterstrike x3 - Nah. Red Duck x3 - Nah. Red Offensive Stance x2 - Passive Block is better. Red Dodge x3 - Maybe. I'd go with some of the standard Pikkon's Leg Catch, some anger ones like Blocking Hand and Goku's Flight, and then be done. Red Blocking Hand x2 - If you go anger, run 3. Red Physical Fortification x1 - Maybe... Physical/Energy Blockings: All those combat ones The original idea behind this deck was to beat the living daylights out of my enemy without having to worry about energy. As fate would have it, every time I fight energy decks, I get to level 2 unnaturally fast, and stay there. I like having weak attacks performed multiple times per combat because with my additives they become rather fatal. And...thats about it, tell me what you think, i'm dying to know :) --------------------------------- Alright sir. First off from what I see in your deck you seem to be a beginner that has some parts of the game down, but need to work on some other things. Hopefully I can touch on the aspects that will help you out. First off, Trunks Red CS isn't an archtype that is naturally good. His power level is right in the middle, and thus he cannot use and abuse the cards that benefit weak characters (like Underdog Drop Kick, Krillin's Overhead Smack), and cannot dish out all the big damage. Thus, you'll have to get creative if you want to make him work. The only decent Trunks physical deck I've seen are sword variations. In your case, you could attempt to try some wacked out Red Sword variation with Red Sword Cleave and some of the Sword cards. Think about it, but remember, play whatever you seem comfortable with. Freestyle Sword seems to be the best for him. As you have mentioned, you seem to have problems when you level against energy decks. Here's a concept. How about not trying to level? Stay on level 1. Watch your anger level. Don't run too many cards that give you anger if you want to stick around on level 1. In my opinion, Anger/Physical Beatdown is a pretty decent way to go as well. See, you have a million different avenues you can pursue. Alright, now what else. Problems with energy decks. And you want to level. Hmm... I heard of this funny card called Unlocked Potential that you could name your level 4 power with and not have to worry about energy attacks for a whole combat... if you stick around on level 1, exchanging level 2s for Trunks the Swordsman will allow you use that level against non-energy decks. But if you do go anger/physical, the CS level 2 is probably better. The anger/physical route will probably embrace the non HT level 3 CS, mainly because Trunks has enough anti energy to go around. An extra attack can help a lot. Test out and see to be sure though. If you have a level 5, it would be nice to throw it in. It all depends if you want to attempt at a 4 level anger win or a 5 level anger win. That's for you to debate though. Sensei Deck... oh boy, worst Sensei in the game -_- and unfilled Sensei. North Kai Sensei. Fill this sensei up with acutal good cards. Try out: A Hero's Heart is Strong Breakthrough Drill Red Drop Red Sniping Shot Red Pressured Attack Black Scout Maneuver HUH??? And so forth. There are many options; use them!!! Red Tilted Punch should be main decked, just so you know. That card is really good IMO. Alright, now here's the big problem. Combats. You are missing all your staples pretty much. See, this game thrives around staples, and in your case, you don't have them. You need them. That's what sets a new person from an experienced person. Examples are Trunks Energy Sphere, Time is a Warriors Tool, Battle Pausing (in most cases), Confrontation, Nappa's Energy Aura, Super Saiyan Effect, Dazed, and so forth. Run them and your deck, more or less any deck, should get a whole lot better. None of your staples should be in your deck except Double Strike. Combat blocks that stop only one attack with no good effect attached should never be run because they can be Sphered. Your Non-Combats should be limited to a good selection of Drills if you plan to go physical/anger with Pulverize and Red Meditation Drill, or just plain Physical. And of course your staples like Expectant Trunks, and so forth. Fusion and Kid Buu have some decent Drills, which you should only run one copy of (except for Meditation Drill, if you plan to level), as well as Saiyan. Bullrush Drill, Holding Drill, Striking Drill, Vegeta's Quickness Drill, and Knee Pick Drill are suggestions. Your Energy Attacks should be either Vigor Orb or Energy Blast, and maybe Krillin's Solar Flare. Tech is good. Your Physical attacks... I will comment on them in your deck. And don't forget to run a Battleground/Location and a Dragon Ball. Earth 7 seems like a good option. Good luck.
