Pokemon CotW No.14 Gust of Wind/Switch Again, two trainers that are very similar, but very different. Name: Switch Type: Trainer Card #: card 95 of 102 Rarity: Common Text: Switch 1 of your own Benched Pokemon with your Active Pokemon. Name: Gust of Wind Type: Trainer Card #: card 93 of 102 Rarity: Common Text: Choose 1 of your opponent's Benched Pokemon and switch it with his/her Active Pokemon. History: Unfortuneately, there is no real history to these cards. (But if you really want them... :-) If trainers are skilled enough, they can switch Pokemon so quickly that one Pokemon goes in, the other comes out, and it attacks. Pretty useful skill to have. Just when you thought you had the Lickitung cornered... out comes a big, nasty Gengar. Gust of Wind is strategic. By summoning a big Gust of Wind similar to Pidgey's, you can blow away the other trainer's Pokemon and force them to play another one. This can be devastating if a weak Pokemon just retreated. Strategy: Switch is for retreating. I.E. High retreat Pokemon. That means using a Switch on a Scyther is useless :-) But also useful for retreating Pokemon with Status Ailments. Gust of Wind is for killing. You know, when the Scyther with 60 damage on it retreats behind his nice safe wall of other Pokemon, you use this to make your opponent think a little :-) Either that, or make them have a nice large retreat Pokemon up in front that can't do anything so that you can punish it. Strengths: -Switch circumvents Pokemon Status Ailments -Gust of Wind can make you pick up a prize, effectively giving you card advantage (1+ opp. card down for effectively no loss in cards for you) Weaknesses: -Switch can't _just_ prevent an Ailment. You must switch your Pokemon, which is sometimes a hassle. There's also the Scoop Up alternative, which removes damage as well (but is not good for non-Basics). -Gust of Wind is circumstantial, ie you need a Pokemon on the bench that can be KO'd Combos: -Switch + Almost dead high-retreat Pokemon - Lives for another day while Vileplumes Heal it up :-) -Gust of Wind + Almost dead opponent's Pokemon in the back = KO time :-) Rating: Switch: 6.0 (most of your Pokemon choices can negate this) Gust of Wind: 7.9 (Good card. Situational, but still a good card. Like Pluspower.)
