Hotarumaru

It's "Unpronounceable Stuff Week" and to celebrate we're reviewing cards that basically no-one outside of Japan will have heard about, starting with this. Hotarumaru here is a G-Unit with a Homare skill that needs to hit the Vanguard, but when it hits, you rest 5 rear-guards and G Persona Blast to stand again, but it loses 2 Drive Checks.

So what we have here is a walking Commander Laurel. Pressure-wise, if the opponent had a PG to spend, they'll drop it on the first attack, so we're basically assuming it hits. When it does, it's essentially forcing out 25k shield average to no-pass, since it only gets one Drive Check more out the deal. But you've still gained a +1 and the 3 card average dropped works out to the amount dropped if the RGs attacked so it works out on average.

However, like Stun Beetle for Megacolony, this needs to be a 3-4 copy of if you run it since you need to assume one's going to be cockblocked by a Perfect Guard. Not being GB2 restricted is also a good plus in its favour, since fast decks are becoming rare these days.

Universally good card here.

What's up, everyone?  It's Touken Ranbu week.

Urgh, I'm not sure WHAT to think about this, TBH, but, whatever.  I shall strive to keep my personal opinion to a minimum and objectively review the cards.

We have Hotarumaru, a Stride unit with a unique Clan ability.  Yeah, they have their own clan abilities, so, whoo!

Homare means "Honor", I guess.  You can only use one Homare per turn, no matter how many units have the ability, you can only use one of them a turn.  It limits some extreme B.S. that the clan could do, but, you know, balance reasons.

So, if this hits a Vanguard, Persona Flip, rest five rear guards and...

Restand and get a single drive check.

...Hello, Spectral Duke Dragon, how are you doing?

I'm not sure how I feel about this one, you have to run four, but at least this can be the first stride you have, but to have a full field on the turn you stride, not easy to do.

Hmm...  I don't know, I really don't.  Like other Stride restanders, it gets you four cards, at least you don't need to discard any from your hand, nor do you need to counter-blast, so there's that, but...  Really, five rear guards?

I suppose you could run stand triggers, but, who knows?

Speaking of which, hey, Bushi, we ever getting some Cray Elemental triggers (vanilla or generic "Put into the soul to get +3K power") anytime soon?
