Sanctuary of Light, Planetal Dragon

Final card of the week is Sanctuary of Light, Planetal Dragon. He's Royal Paladin's 2nd Ride Chain apex and part of the newest gen, so let's work down. He's 11k if you have the Grade 2 Sanctuary of Light in the soul, of course. His Limit Break is to give every Sanctuary of Light UNIT you control 3k when he attacks until end of turn. And his normal skill is when ridden, you CB2 to call a Sanctuary of Light from the deck.

So let's work our way down. Starting with the Ride Chain itself (which unfortunately you HAVE to run). It's basically the same as Schwarzchild Dragon's in that the Grade 2 has to be ridden on top of the Grade 1, otherwise you don't get a free unit. So don't count on succeeding on it or the bonus from it.

2nd skill to call? Well, CB2 for +1 is bog standard. Nothing unusually good.

Planetal Dragon's only end result however is having a field of Sanctuary of Light cards to make columns across the board. I'm not particularly fond of this strategy since Master of Fifth Element doesn't need to take as much liberties and could perform better given the support it has. Hell, Celestials with Zerachiel can achieve similar, and again bigger given Underlay Celestial is a thing. And at least Zera's an assured 11k no matter what.

Planetal comes under the category of casual to me. I don't see him being a game-changer.

Sanctuary of Light, Planetal Dragon

Huh, very odd to see a Ride Chain come out in this day and age for Vanguard.

It's a conditional 11000 Vanguard, so, what skills does it bring to the table?

Well, for a Counter Blast of 2, you can search for any Sanctuary of Light unit from the deck and call to a rear guard.  And its limit break...

Well, it reminds me of Master of the Fifth Element, can't really complain about that.

Sadly, the only Sanctuary of Light units that exist are those in the ride chain and Brightness Dragon.  But, with that Limit Break, you can make Little Storm a 10000 booster and Determinator a 12000 beater for the turn, every turn.

Again, like I mentioned with Brightness Dragon, it's outclassed by both Ashlei Reverse and Majesty Lord Blaster, however, I would put this in the same area as King of Knights Alfred, honestly.  It's a very solid card and a decent sub-clan that doesn't have any restrictions or need of especial counter blasts, so you can mix and match this with any Royal Paladin variant you want until your heart's content.

If there were more Sanctuary of Light units, this card would be incredibly useful.  But with only 5 differently named units, well, it's being held back for the moment.

Hopefully more will come later.

For now though...  If you want a budget Royal Paladin deck and don't want to run Jewel Knights, try this out.  It's not bad.
