10 – Sister Princess A wonderful dating sim turned anime. All the girls are so diverse and cute in their own ways. It’s just a very cute and funny series to watch. ^_^;; 9 – Pokemon Despite it’s repetitive episodic nature (The only clues that there really is a storyline are the gym leader battles) I still love Pokemon. It’s such a genius concept that it’s inescapable. The movies are extremely well made, and hopefully it’ll only get better. 8 – Shaman King A relatively new series (Started in July of this year, I believe), Shaman King has been around as a manga for quite a while. I’ve only seen the first 2 episodes of this series, but I already love it. It’s got a very intriguing story, with shamans and spirits, and very easy to like. As more episodes come out subbed, I’m sure I’ll be able to say even more great things about it. 7 – Dragonball Z Yet another great series. Even though DBZ does get a bit repetitive (New enemy. Get stronger. Beat enemy) it always throws in little twists. Super Saiyan, fusions, aliens, it’s all so cool. The Buu Saga is by far my favorite, because Goten and Chibi Trunks are so cute! Plus, Gohan, my favorite character, is definitely his coolest in this saga. The movies, for the most part, are also very good. I just wish the movies actually fit in with the continuity of the show.. 6 – Gundam (in general, all series EXCEPT Turn A Gundam) What’s this, Gundam in 6th place!? Yeah yeah, I know. The only reason Gundam is this low is because I’ve yet to see a decent portion of all the series to make a true rating. Though, all I have seen (excluding Turn A Gundam… Die, Turn A Gundam!) of the multiple series has been excellent. Gundam is the only series (Heck, it’s practically it’s own genre) that can last 20+ years and still keep you interested. 5 – Sailor Moon My very first “anime obsession,” Sailor Moon will always have a place in my heart as a great series. The animation wasn’t the best, but the storyline is one of my personal favorites. The ongoing romance of Usagi and Mamoru, the addition of new Senshi, the new transformations, new enemies: they were all so classic. It’s such a tragedy they have yet to dub Sailor Stars (and probably never will) because it was by far the best of all the seasons. 4 – Gravitation Now, I never really thought I’d like a shounen ai/ yaoi / whatever you want to call it series, but Gravitation proved me very wrong. What I like so much about it is that it’s got numerous storylines going on at once: Bad Luck, Nittle Grasper, ASK, Yuki and Shuichi’s relationship, Yuki’s mysterious past, etc but they all intertwine and go together. This is another series with excellent music (It’s about a band, so it has to have good music!). Kinda funny how every single piece of electronic equipment in the series has a huge SONY logo plastered on it, ne? 3 – Angelic Layer Continuing in the CLAMP tradition, Angelic Layer displays an engaging story, great animation, and wonderful music. What I love most about this series is the relationship between Misaki and her mother. Misaki has not seen her mother in many years, being told that her mother is extremely busy with work.. But in reality, Misaki’s mother suffers from an incurable disease and is simply too afraid about how Misaki might react. The catch is, Misaki’s mother is a champion at Angelic Layer, and if Misaki continues to win her battles, they will meet in The Layer, whether Misaki’s mom wants it or not. I’ll be very interested to see how this series ends! 2 – Digimon Tamers While I do love both of the previous seasons of Digimon, neither of them can even be compared to Digimon Tamers. This series uses an amazing concept: What would happen if your favorite tv show or card game became real? That’s exactly what Digimon Tamers is. 3 children are chosen (and later, more children) to become Digimon Tamers, just like any serious Digimon fan wishes they could do. The evolution sequences break away from the “standard” of the previous seasons, and in a very good way. The backgrounds and animation quality are the best I’ve ever seen in a Digimon series. Plus, it’s got such a complex story, each character with their own problems and weaknesses, and numerous tidbits of important background info that pop up all the time in the series. This is one series where you really can’t predict what’ll happen next. 1 - Card Captor Sakura Card Captor Sakura is simply a classic magical girl series. There’s really nothing you can say that’s bad about this series. The animation is superb, one of the very few series (especially long running series) that puts such work into the “stock footage,” changing it with practically every episode. Plus, you’ve got the music. CLAMP series have such amazing music, and all the songs match perfectly with the scenes they show them in. The 2nd movie, which ends the series, is especially great with some of the best animation I’ve seen in an anime movie. Sakura x Syaoran forever!
