Jae Kim: Theory and Practice
JK 25: Introduction to the Pro Player Draft
at Yu-Gi-Oh! U.S. Nationals 2010
July 15, 2010

Adam Corn and Billy Brake thought up an interesting idea. In the spirit of sports such as the NBA and NFL, twelve of the best players in the USA would get together and hold a player draft. I was surprised to find that many of the best players in the game, including Jeff Jones, Ryan Spicer, Fili Luna, and Adam Corn had agreed to play in the open on the Friday before Nationals.

The lineups were finalized for five versus five endurance. I decided to drop out of the actual battle and do an old school Pojo team battle for your benefit. We had ten total names including two team captains.

Team 1 Lineup:

Billy Brake - Team Kamikaze. Runner up YCS Rosemont along with multiple other premier                      event day two's.

Austin Kulman - 2006 Nationals Champion and multiple day two finishes

Mario Matheu - Team CoreTCG. SJC Champion, two SJC runner-up finishes, and multiple                         day two's.

Ryan Spicer-  Team Kamikaze. SJC Champion. SJC runner-up. Multiple day two's.

Adam Corn-   2007 Nationals Champion. SJC Champion. Multiple day two's.

Team 2 Lineup:

Paul Levitin -  Two-time SJC Champion. Multiple day two's.

Jarel Winston - SJC runner-up. Multiple day two's.

Augustin Herrera - Multiple day two's and a day two at Nationals.

Jeff Jones-   Two-time SJC Champion. Multiple day two's.

Hugo Adame-  SJC runner-up. Multiple day two's.

With the rosters handed in to me, neither team knew the exact lineup that the other was playing. The entire team battle happened in one evening. There were almost a hundred spectators that wandered through the lobby. Some duelists were glued to their seat the entire night watching the different pros exchange strategies and banter.

You can follow expanded coverage under each match and also take the time to visit go-YGO.com. I will probably be posting more insight about these matches on that blog as well. I hope you enjoy this effort by both the players and myself.
