When building your Ruby/Sapphire deck, you must first decide if you are going to play the powerful deck that many will play, meta game the popular deck, or go your own way and build a new deck that has seen little play. Often times i like to choose the latter, but in this case, the most poular deck may be the best choice. Then you must toss your trainers together. 4 Prof. Birtch are a must as it is the only draw trainer in the set. 3-4 Switches are also a must. A few Pokemon Reversals, Potions, and Oran Berries for good measure where possible. Depending on the deck you are playing, other trainers become very good. Energy Restore will work well in a fire deck becasue fire decks often times dicard a lot of energy. The energy in your deck will vary on the deck that you are playing. The Ruby/Sapphire format it no exception. Around 20 for a fire deck is nice, and less if you are going to run a Ex style Haymaker or most other decks. A deck that may prove to be quite good is the Ex Haymaker, if you can keep the pokes alive. In a Hay deck, Energy Search would be a good choice for a trainer becasue you will possibly be playing 3-4 types of energy. Potions and Oran Berries will also help keep those Ex Pokes alive. It seems that one of the best decks in Ruby/Sapphire on will be Blaziken with it's power and speed. Combo it with Delcatty and Blaziken becomes a really nice deck. A good counter for Blaziken could be a Darkness deck with that includes Sharpedo or a Swampert deck. Swampert seems like it could be a nice deck. A deck that few will be playing is Manectric. It could also be easy to play as he is an uncommon. he also does decent damage with bench destruction. Too bad there is no DCE in Ruby/Sapphire. That's it for this TCG Tips article.
