- wrote this long ago, but through e-mail errors it has yet to get through, so remember this, please. Coco Cow(moo) First of all, this is a VERY bias list. This doesn't represent the beliefs of Pojo, anyone else who submits TO Pojo, or even Bob. This is what I, Coco Cow, think. So don't go bugging other people!!! With that out of the way let's get this started. There will be three sections: Moves, Pokémon, and Powers. The first will be Moves (This will be based off of where I live, which is Tallahassee) Electric 5. Pin Missle. WAY too much coin flips to be very effective (Jolteon) 4. Thunder Jolt. Bit dangerous, mostly because the people usually use it when they're near death. (Base Pikachu) 3. Energy Bomb. Not a bad move, but I live with some "the higher the damage, the better it must be" people who don't read the side effects. They decide to "reattach" the Energy to Dark Electrode. 2. Thunder. My friend uses this A LOT when I play him. He's a semi "high power" guy, meaning he reads the conditions, but is a little reckless. With most people's luck with coins, you may as well have used self destruct. (Base Raichu and Zapdos) 1. (a)Thunder Bolt / (b)Self-Destruct. (A) Sure, it does 100 base damage, but if you're trying to kill that Blastoise, use Thunder. Even if you hurt yourself, you can attack next turn. (B) So it can KO most Pokémon that you see on turn two, but you lose a Pokémon, which means your opponent gains a prize and a new option. (Base Zapdos/ Base Magenmite line) Psychic (NOTE: There aren't many moves to list here, so there will be only 3) 3. Mind Shock. Good for those pesky Colorless, I'll grant you. But with a Psy Pokémon whose only attack is that, another Psy Pokémon (aside from Abra) can rip it to shreds. Dark Alakazam can at least use Teleport Blast. (Only one it presents porblem to: Dark Kadabra.) 2. Nightmare (one specific). This is a great move to have...exept on Rocket Drowzee. It already has the Power to put the guy to sleep, so what's the need of Nightmare? For the faint-hearted? If you have out a lone Drowzee, and are going "you're so dead", you must be faint of brain, not faint of heart. 1.Psywave. We all rememeber the joy of getting the Mew. We all bragged, jumped for joy, or (in my case) fainted because it was Holo. After the smelling salts, you look at the card...eew. Devolution Beam has potential (See my May article on it), but Psywave, just like in the Red/Blue/Yellow universe, sucks. It only does okay against Psychic Pokémon, which (aside from Abra and Dark Kadabra) will rip asunder Mew's 50 HP. Water (NOTE: This is going to be good. I USE water Pokémon) 5. Flail. Yes, Flail, or at least Flail like moves (i.e. Rage). Guys say "Go ahead, give him you're best shot." Then when you pull a trick and KO it before he can dish out the damage, his strategy is shot to Heck. The only one that can cut the Mustard is Dotrio's rage. (Too many to list) 4. Mirror Shell. This is like a Destony (sorry, spelling isn't my strong point) Bond, yet whatever is done to Dark Wartortle is done to the opponent. So all you have to do is a small attack, instead of the big, MOTHER OF ...PEARL, move they expected. 3. Waterfall. 30 Damage for one Water one Colorless isn't bad, it's the Pokémon that it's user evolves from...Goldeen. Need I say more? (Seaking, of course) 2. Water Gun. I'm going to get flamed for this. The bashing of a move that I agree is good, but only one certain Pokémon. Lapras, or a protected Rocket Psyduck. Not Base Poliwag. It can't take the heat. That's the only thing wrong. 1. Whirlpool. Simular to HyperBeam, but, aside from Fossil Golduck, HyperBeam can take ANY Energy, not 2 water and 1 colorless (at least). It does 20 damage, for 3 energy...whoopie! Fire (I very rarely see Fire, since I use Water, so I can only do 3 again) 3. Ember. Thirty damage for a discard...like I said for Whirlpool...whoopie. (Base Charmander) 2. Continuous Fireball. I was gpoing to say Nail Flick, but that's not an overrated move, it's an under-HATED move. Anyhoo, for each heads, 50 damage. Good. For each heads, discard a Fire energy. Bummer. (Dark Charizard.) 1. Firespin. Again, I'll get flamed (no pun intended). But this move is OVERKILL. You're facing a Base Porygon. You want it dead. You do 70 more damage than nessecary, AND you lose 2 energy. La-di-FREAKIN-da! Plant (again, not many, this time I've got 4) 4. Mega Drain. As in the video game, it's hard to get that Butterfree. A powerful Poké, but it evolves from ones that are basically as powerful as the crud on the bottom of your shoe. As said before, "Too little, too late". 3.Leech Seed (original). Bulbasaur's was the first life-leeching move of them all. It left much to be desired. If it did 10 damage, you removed 1 damage counter. If it did 40 damage, you took off 1 damage counter. Sign me up. 2.Horn Hazard. It can do 30 damage for 1 Grass energy, whivh is good. Unless you flip tails. Then you wasted an energy and your breath that you used calling out the attack. (Nidoran Male) 1. Boyfriends. Twenty damge plus 20 more for each NidoKing on your bench. If you have 4 Nidokings in your deck, stop reading here, go to the deck garage, and read the advice. You need to ratio!! Fighting (I don't know of any so I can't do a single one.) Colorless 5. Any quick attacks. No comment nessecary. If you know enough to play, you know why. 4.Psybeam. Yes, Psybeam. It's a colorless move. It's basically a 3 energy Confuse Ray with a plus power. Unforunately, it's on Rocket Porygon. 3.Quick Attack. For it do be a good energy investment, you need a 2-headed coin. 2. Clefairy's Metrenome. Why even use it? You have a Clefable in your deck. That's the only reason to HAVE Clefairy, and Clefable can Metrenome for 1 energy! 1. Body Slam. Why even BOTHER?! Snorlax's best useage is stall, and by the time you can attack, you can retreat for an ABRA. It would be an improvment. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ 10 most over-rated/used Pokémon Powers (again, where I live) 10. Buzzap. My friend likes this a LOT. Good for energizing you Big Boys, but you give your opponent a free prize. (Base Electrode) 9. Toxic Gas. Great for Mimes and Dittos. But there is enough anti-Mime strategys, and Ditto can retreat before you can attack. (Fossil Muk) 8. Strange Behavior. Like a sick Damage Swap, only you transfer it to yourself. No wonder it's call "Strange". (Fossil Slobro) 7. Matter Exchange. This is like a mini-Oak. But you draw 1 card for losing 1 card. You can get something worse, and then you're screwed. (Dark Kadabra). 6. Peek. Can be useful, but the Mankey is GOW bait. (Jungle Mankey, first common Basic Pokémon with a Power) 5. Energy Transfer. It's good, put in plant decks ONLY. The Solarbeam factor is the backbone of Venusaur's strength. 4. Invisable Wall. He's good, very good, but he's well known. No more can people call the Mime their "secret weapon", for the anti-Mime decks are common. Mime's a two turn KO for Hitmonchan. 3.Raindance. The power that spawned many a Water deck. It's become so overused, that people see a Blastoise, and it's an automatic Raindance. This is EXTREMELY annoying to me, because I use a Water deck with Blastoise, but it's a Status Change deck (like my bud AJ R's Cheap n' Easy deck, only this one's Stop 'n Go). 2.Damage Swap. Another deck spawner, useful with a quartet of Chanseys, but...who does?! (Base 'Kazam) 1. Energy Burn. Again, Charizard ain't great, aside from STALLING, something that, aside from 'Kazam, Stage 2s don't do! ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ TOP TEN OVER RATED POKéMON!!! 10. Mr. Mime (Jungle). Love 'em, but too many strategies against him. 9.Raichu (Base). Evolves from Pikachu, which is pretty easy to kill. 8.Zapdos (Base). Either hurts itself, or loses all its energy. Where do I sign up? 7.Movie Mewtwo (Promo). Too easy to trick most of the owners of these cards to GOW out a Horsea, use Energy Absorbsion, and say go. You retreat the Horsea for free, they wasted a GOW (Gust of Wind). 6.Kadabra (Base). I like this card, I really do, but so does HALF THE WORLD (or at least Tallahassee). The retreat cost and the fact it comes from Abra, though, kill it. 5. We have a TIE!!!!! Blastoise and Venusaur (both Base). These are 2/3 of the "Big 3". I think you know why they're over-rated 3. Zapdos (Fossil). Good bench disruptor, but kinda sad HP for a Legendary Bird. A MEW could beat it with first attack (as in, if it attacked first, not with one attack). 2. Mew (Promo in America, Fossil in Japan). Yes, Fossil in Japan. America got gyped out of a HOLOGRAPHIC Mew with a Fossil sign. Good in card binders, bad in action. That's all I'll say. 1. Charizard. EVERYONE knows why. Of course, I have most of the Base cards 1st Ed., including Charizard.......whoops. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ BONUS!! TOP 5 MOST IMPROVED POKéMON!!!! 5.Fossil Slowpoke to Rocket Slowpoke. Not much improvement, but at least can do damage. 4.Base to Rocket Porygon. Keeps the advantage of Conversion 1, and can now do DAMAGE. 3.adadsdasdasdddasdasdasdddadsdaasdadaskkkkkjjjjladkjalaskjdlaskhhdalsjhdlakshdalaksdhhdhdalskdhlakshdlakshdhdhdladhalladlaalallkashdlahdlahdhhjaldhalalhdaooahfoaaooaoahgoaiywyrlahfdayhfjfjtigfjhviudfsadpoasdpoasfdpasjfpsapjuioewyoryoewyherwyworoyrowy (Sorry, Shaman, one of my cats, just walked over the keyboard) 3. Fossil Mew becomes Lvl 8 Mew (aka Lillypad Mew). Man, I SO want the English version. No evolved Pokémon can touch it. If you're Confused, flip a..naw, I won't say it. Here's the stats on Lvl 8 Mew. HP: 40 (ouch) Pokémon Power: Neutralizing Shield. Ignore all effects, including damage, done to Mew by evolved Pokémon (excluding your own). This power...YOU KNOW!! Attack 1 Psy, Psyshock. Damage: 10. Effect: FLip a coin. If heads, Defending Pokémon is paralized(?). 2. Base Mewtwo to Movie Promo Mewtwo. Base Mewtwo only works in certain decks, where as MP Mewtwo can fit in any Psy deck. 1. Base to Rocket Magikarp. Attack power as weak as ever, but Rapid Evolution is great!! Well, I've talked way, WAY too much. See ya (P.S. Before you bash me being sloppy towards the end, it took me 2 days to finish this monster. You try keeping it real!) contact me at Coco_Cow@yahoo.com thanks for reading this giant piece of Magicrap. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
