Name: Pojo's Homework Assignment
By: LightningAmerican (if this counts as a Pokémon name call me Pyroracer (not Mancer like last time!...DO NOT USE MY REAL NAME.)

Hi Pojo people,

This is LightningAmerican from the message boards. I don't like to have missing homework assignments, so here's mine. =/

TOP 5 CARDS OF SOUTHERN ISLANDS

#5-Slowking. Though not as good as the superior one from Genesis, if you're running Slowpokes already (be it for Dark Slowbro, Neo Slowking, or Dark Slowking), you might as well throw one or two of these in there as search engines. The Revelation attack is great for when you really need that Chaos Gym or are desperate for that Professor Oak. Psychic is also good, especially against decks such as Rain Dance or Exeggutor that need a lot of energy to attack.
#4-Vileplume. The second attack is extremely mean. Anything that gives you an automatic status effect, no matter what you flip, is viable for tourney play. Sure, he's not blessed with a tremendous amount of hit points, but that's why Healing Pollen is there. Just watch out for those Typhlosions!
#3-Mew. The HP is pathetic, but by attaching a Rainbow Energy and a quick Potion, followed up by lots of Pokémon Tools like Berry and Focus Band to keep it alive, you can wreck your opponent, especially if they're playing monochrome. Free retreat always helps too. Just watch for Sneasels and their Evil friends!
#2-Onix. Steelix, meet your new best friend. Slap a quick DCE on him and start Slamming like a madman. Next turn, throw a Metal Energy and evolve, and start Crushing some Tail! If you want to play defense, throw some immediate Metal Energy and Gold Berry on him, and stall for a while. This especially works well if you only run one or two Steelixes. Now, Steelix decks don't really need to run Brock's Ninetales or Slowking to be viable!
#1-Exeggutor. I'm sure I'll hear crying about this one. "But Lightning, it's not a shiny holofoil like Ledyba, or cute like Togepi! Plus his attack does only 10 damage, whereas Onix can do 40!" Well, Exeggutor alone might not be much to speak of, but one combo makes this card especially deadly: Meganium. Get a Meganium out, and have a lot of Professor Oaks to get some Grass Energy, then double your energy (and damage), and you can aim it! See a Slowking on your opponent's bench that's giving you trouble? Throw 5 or 6 energy on him (stall with a Chansey and some Babies before setting your combo up) and that Slowking no longer exists. Especially good against Feraligatr, or Tyranitar's lower evolutions.

Worst card of Southern Islands: Marill. With all the Rocket's Zapdos and Electabuzz around, he simply isn't worth it. Sure, you can have an aimed attack, but the HP and evolution aren't worth it to support this guy. Shame, since Light Azumarill looks very promising, especially if they make a Water-type Smoochum card.

Thanks for reading,

P. S.: Pojo, if you're looking for any deck mechs anytime soon, I'd be more than happy to help.
