Welcome to Jsc’s Junker!

Hi, my name is Jerry Carcache.  This is the 9th installment of Jsc’s Junker!

Thanks for taking your time to read another Jsc’s Junker article.

Thanks to all the people who email me!

Today is the 2nd day I let a Jsc Junker fan pick the Card Of the day!

Rating System:

This is my rating system 5 to 0 rating…

This is a 5 out of 5. Perfect card in almost every way! Should be in every deck.

This is a 4 out of 5. Good card and reliable, above average! And will be useful in later sets.

This is a 3 out of 5. Ok card, useable, average card. This card is a normal pokemon trading card.

This is a 2 out of 5. Not a very good card, but might be good later.

This is a 1 out of 5. Meaning this card stinks. Put it back in the pack and send it to wizards. Use gloves while doing that please!

This is a 0 out of 5. Hmm…  *still thinking * how to put this in a nice way! Email me if you have any ideas to put this in a nice gentle way. Keep sending those emails. By my 10th installment of Jsc’s Junker I will have chosen the rating description and then I will give props to the person which sends the best rating description for “0”.

Lets get to what you came here for, Jsc’s Junker fan card of the day. Is………..*waits for the oven bell to ring, DING *

Strategies with Meganium Level 54…

When I first saw this card I saw it had great potential. The pokemon power that it has is amazing. All Grass pokemon get their Hp restored back to 100% (with a flip of a coin). Of course you want to setup the Meganium quickly because of other fast decks like sneasels. For that purpose you will need to put Pokemon Breeder in your deck. Since it is two Grass and two colorless energy for body slam. I suggest that you use Double colorless energies to make you attack your opponent faster.  The double colorless energy will let you have Meganium powered up by 3 turns instead of 4. Try to use Devolution Spray with this kind of deck because the pokemon power of Meganium only works if it is coming from your hand.

Try to use Stadium/Gyms cards like Eco Gym or No removal gym so that your opponent tries to remove your energy away that he or she will pay a bigger price to remove your energies. With eco gym you will get back your removed energies. If you are going to play a Chaos gym in the deck try to have 4 Chaos gyms and 2 -to- 3 of another gym such as eco or no removal gym.

Hmm… Now pokemon players aren’t really playing fire decks as much, (so that is good for Meganium) but the biggest problem I see is the Steel Type pokemon. The biggest one is Steelix and most commonly used steel type pokemon around.

Steel type is a threat to grass pokemon because Steel type pokemon have resistance to grass! But Steelix can be countered by grass pokemon and there’s two ways you could do it.

1.     You could attack the Onix before it evolves into the steelix and get it very weaken or heavily damaged. Because Onix has the weakness of grass.

2.     Another way to get rid of steelix is by using status effect pokemon like Oddish (rocket) or Koffing to name a few. These status effect pokemon can poison/confuse the Steelix so it can hurt it self when it tries to attack or maybe waste 4 energies for trying to retreat it.

A couple of more Grass pokemon that are good to team up with Meganium are:

Ø     Rockets Scyther

Ø     Scyther

Ø     Dark Gloom

Ø     Venomoth

Ø     Dark Muk

Good Combos with Meganium Level 54…

There are two ways you could use the Meganium. The 1st way is just to let it sit there and use it for its pokemon power if you use the Devolution Spray technique; and the 2nd way is that you use it as a main player of your deck. Either way I would suggest you to use Gold Berry because the pokemon power of Meganium is a coin flip and 50% of the time it will be tails. So just use the gold berry as an insurance card.  The Chaos gym that I mentioned above is used for your opponent to have a harder time using trainers like Gust of wind or switch, or scoop up. The reason is because steelix decks usually have switches, same with Slowking decks. So if you didn’t have the Chaos Gym out into play the opponent would gust out your Meganium and your game plan is over.

Use cards such as Professor Oak, Elm, Bill, Computer Search, Nightly Garbage Runs, Item Finder, Erica, Bill’s Transport Machine, Mary, or Gamblers to find the cards needed to get Meganium ready to attack. I also think that the Dark Muk with Meganium is a very great pokemon combo. The Item Finders are a MUST in the deck if you want to get back those devolution sprays, so you can get that pokemon power of Meganium working again.

So if I were to use the Meganium level 54 I would use Dark Muk, Meganium level 54, and Chaos gym. To give them trouble retreating, give them a status effect, and with Meganium’s power dark muk is pretty tough to knock out. Another combo is with dark muk try to use Darkness Energy with Dark muk that way his attack does 40 damage with the poison included instead of 30! The darkness energy wouldn’t give damage to Dark Muk because he is a “Dark” pokemon. The chaos gym is of course for the trainers that your opponent will be using during the match.

How to Counter Meganium Level 54?

Any Fire or Steel type pokemon will take care of the Meganium, but your opponent might not be using it as a main player so try to Gust it out.  It might take a longer time to get rid of the Meganium since it has the pokemon power. So if you want to get rid of ALL those pesky pokemon powers just use fossil muk for those Dittos, Elekids, and other pokemon powers. Sneasel or Wigglytuff could knock out Meganium in 2 turns or even 1 if your opponent doesn’t have something up their sleeve. Remember that it’s a coin flip and not automatic power and can basically be used once when it comes into play so it will not always work, and that’s when you must attack.

Also if you use Slowkings this would be easier to block those Pokemon Breeders, Devolution Sprays, Gust of winds, and Nightly Garbage Runs.  If your opponent doesn’t get to use those trainers the Meganium is done for good.

Meganium Level 54 is beating your deck in a match? What do you do?

If Meganium is ripping your deck apart try to gust out another pokemon that your opponent may have with a weak attack or very high retreat cost. Super Energy removal grass energies away. Try to Lass them so they can’t recuperate as fast. Also try powering up pokemon on the bench to counter that Meganium when it does become active again.

Rating for Meganium Level 54?????????

I give this Card a 2 out of 5  **

This card gets 2 out of 5 because it’s a good card and it has possibilities of some great creative deck ideas but it having a staged 2 and another stage 2 or 1 by turn 2 or 3 is very unlikely. That’s why sneasel is so commonly used he is a faster pokemon to attack with. Meganium has a chance against steel type pokemon. If you do get your Meganium running you still would have to use the Devolution Sprays to keep using the his pokemon power. I also gave it a “2” because it’s a good card for now but when Neo 2 and Neo 3 comes out grass pokemon will go extinct just like the rain dance decks of the passed. Trust me. There are some very strong fire pokemon coming up in future sets and very weak grass types.
