Welcome to Jsc’s Junker!

Hi, my name is Jsc.  This is the 7th installment of Jsc’s Junker!

Hope you guys enjoyed my other articles.

Many people have been asking for my Pokemon background. So here it is:

Ø      I started playing pokemon November of 1999.

Ø      I have been in over 1,000 matches on the Pojo Apprentice League

Ø      I won 720 matches out of the 1,000 (that’s just the Pojo League)

Ø      I won many Tournaments in New Jersey when they have them.

So these are some things that involve me with pokemon, just to let you know.

Thanks to all the people who wrote to me!

Rating System:

This is my rating system 5 to 0 rating…

This is a 5 out of 5. Perfect card in almost every way! Should be in every deck.

This is a 4 out of 5. Good card and reliable, above average! And will be useful in later sets.

This is a 3 out of 5. Ok card, useable, average card. This card is a normal pokemon trading card.

This is a 2 out of 5. Not a very good card, but might be good later.

This is a 1 out of 5. Meaning this card stinks. Put it back in the pack and send it to wizards. Use gloves while doing that please!

This is a 0 out of 5. Hmm…  *still thinking * how to put this in a nice way! Email me if you have any ideas to put this in a nice gentle way.

Now lets get to the stuff you came here for, my card of the day. Is………..*Claps his hands twice*

It’s Pichu!

Baby Form: If this Baby Pokemon is your Active Pokemon and your

Opponent tries to attack; your opponent flips a coin

(Before doing anything required in order to use that

Attack).  If tails, your opponent's turn ends without an

             Attack.

Evolves into Pikachu.  Put Pikachu on the Baby Pokemon.

Attack:      [1] Zzzap

Does 20 damage to each Pokemon in play that has a Pokemon

Power.  Don't apply Weakness and Resistance.

   Facts

ü    Baby Pokemon (Has the smokescreen effect -baby rule)

ü    30 hp

ü    Free retreat

ü    1 colorless to attack for Zzzap

ü    No weakness and No resistance

ü    Baby rule is not a pokemon power it’s a rule.

Strategies with Pichu…

Pichu is very good card to counter the main hitters of today’s environment style. Some pokemon that are very effected by pichu’s move are Ditto, Slowking, Dark Vileplume, Erica’s Dratini, Elekid, and Any pokemon with pokemon powers.

First, attach one energy to pichu to do the move Zzzap. One strategy with pichu is to get for example give a ditto 30 to 40 damaged your opponent retreats his or her ditto and then you lay down Pichu on your bench and make it your active attack with Zzzap and then you have a one dead ditto. This card works very well with Brock’s Mankey, a Gust of wind or even a Murkrow.

You would you use those cards to get a slowking out into your opponents active slot and start Zzzap-ing away his pokemon with your pichu that way the more slowkings they have the better because then you could knock out maybe all at the same time. One time I was playing in a game and I gusted out a Clefable, with pichu as active I decided to Zzzap and I was hitting my opponent’s two dittos and his Erica’s dratini! By the time the clefable retreated and failed it’s attack against my pichu’s baby rule I knocked out 3 of his pokemon! This card could be handy during an early start. It’s a good strategy to gust out a clefable or mimic type pokemon because that way they can do Zzzap and if they don’t know any better they might be hitting themselves. Usually when playing a Pichu in a deck it is an Anti Slowking or Anti Ditto deck.

Good Combos with Pichu

After your pichu does the damage to the dittos or the other pokemon with powers you might want to scoop up that pichu. It could also be used for the double knock out. So you need some Brock’s mankey, gust of wind, or double gust. To get that very high retreat pokemon out as their active like the Slowking. A good back up pokemon for Pichu is a Wigglytuff, a Sneasel, or Steelix. This way you could weaken or even knock out some pokemon and have some of the pokemon listed as a clean up hitter.

To knock out the rest of your opponents pokemon while your pichu is attack you would be powering up your pokemon.  You also want as many turns to get your attack Zzzap to work, so that you would have a better chance to win the game. So you want to use Defenders, Berries, Potion energy, potions, or even focus band.

Pichu, with Rockets Zapdos, Sneasel, and Scyther is a nice deck to use with pichu because you have lighting pokemon so IF and this is a BIG IF you are using pikachu or in a lighting tourney or All lighting deck it would work great. If you are going to evolve pichu into any pikachu I would suggest Movie Promo Pikachu from the 1999 Pokemon the 1st movie. Out of the all of the pikachus that’s the fastest and strongest to set up then the other pikachus. If you want to evolve it yet again for a Raichu that would be also good but also risky since you are going to have a lot of evolutions in your deck.

How to Counter Pichu?

Very simple to counter pichu since he is 30hp like all other baby pokemon Rockets Zapdos with a plus power and Plasma. With the flip of the coin if heads you got a Knocked Out pichu. Don’t play a deck with Pokemon Powers is another way to counter pichu decks. Mostly any pokemon could knock out Pichu. These pokemon do a good job knocking out baby pokemon: Scyther, Sneasel, Wigglytuff, Hitmonchan, Gligar, Rockets Zapdos and many others.

Pichu is kicking your butt in a match? What do you do?

Ok, try to use some of these suggestions to keep that Pichu away until you can knock it out with a strong pokemon. Try to gust out another pokemon with a large retreat cost so it will take longer for them to start Zzap-ing again with Pichu. Use Cleffas, Professor Oak, Professor Elm, Bill, or Computer search to help you get a necessary card to knock out that pichu or just Oak for more options.

In ‘Options’ I mean you are getting more energies, trainers, and pokemon so you could counter that pichu. I found that Dark Muk is very useful on crushing Baby pokemon, Sneasel, and other free retreat pokemon but remember that pichu will do 20 damage to Dark Muk since Dark Muk has a pokemon power. If you want to still use the Dark Muk just play Gold berry so when that pichu hits you twice with it’s Zzzap it will be 40 damage and gold berry will take away all the damage that was done to Dark Muk!

So if you want a Dark Muk effect but you don’t want his pokemon power because of Pichu’s counter then play Fossil Magmar and a Rocket’s Training Gym. This brings Almost the same effect but minus the pokemon power. These tips should help you defeat a pichu.

Rating?????????

I give this Card a 4 out of 5  ****

This card is very good. It’s mostly for ‘meta gaming’ and for you pokemon players out there that don’t know what Meta gaming is, it’s when you play certain cards to counter other cards or arch types. Also that’s the smart way of playing because you know what other pokemon players are playing around your pokemon environment. I gave this card a rating “4” because it is a good card and it has a good attack to maybe knock out or damage pokemon with pokemon powers. The only big problem is that pichu might have 1 or 2 turns to attack before being knocked out if your really are lucky you might get 3 attacks in and also retreat your pichu safe and sound. This card is also good since some future pokemon will have pokemon powers and this card will still be useful.
