When the Jungle cards came out Pojo's Magazine rated Goldeen as a 1 (out of
5) and dismissed him as 'Magikarp with looks'. Everybody since then has
followed suit.

This is unfair. Goldeen evolves into Seaking, and Seaking is a good pokemon
- 70hp, 1 retreat, 30 damage for 1 water and 1 other energy. Seaking has
been overlooked because a) he's an evolution card and b) water has
Blastoise, Dewgong, Gyarados, Lapras and Articuno to play with. Neo has
given water improved an improved Seadra, and the electric resistant Wooper /
Quagsire line, so Goldeen and Seaking have slid further down the list of
most playable Water pokemon.

Most colours would love to have Seakings attack's to call upon, especially
for an uncommon card.

Lightning has had to make do with two good pokemon cards (Electabuzz and TR
Zapdos) in 18 months of card releases. Don't knock Goldeen 'cos he's an easy
target. In any other colour Goldeen and Seaking would be considered a solid
evolution line. Unfortunately there are so many good Water pokemon, merely
being above average doesn't make the grade.

PS What bright spark thought electric resistant water pokemon was a good
idea. Electabuzz was the only thing keeping raindance in check.

Thanks for listening
