~Disablers: balancing out the envirement while still
having fun!~

Hello, this is gligar12(G12), from the pojo message
boards. (I know that pokemon names are not alowed, but
that is the name which I am well known for.)

I realize that this is a very long article, but I
strongly suggest reading it. It will help you have fun
in the game, uing your favorite pokes, and still win!
(If I get feedback, then I will post more articles on
disablers) *Now don't fall asleep!*

I suggest that everyone reads this, as it can change
your pokeyman playin' forever. This is an article
about a deck type. A deck type that can stabalyze the
envirement; yet still give you a fun time. There are
uncountable versions of this deck type. You can
usually
make your favorite pokemon playable, and not get
crushed by your local archetype player of doom. This
deck is known as a "disabler", another close varient
of this deck type is known as the "lock" deck. I was
inspired to play this deck, by IMHO, the best disabler
player: Ditto'(aka gloom').

*HEY! WAKE UP! Splashes water on the audience*

The disabler deck is extremely versitile. It focuses
on
a few main concepts: disruption, status(some of the
time), consistancy, stability, focus, and control. A
standard disabler usually has a concept. In this
example, I will use F.Tentacruel. A card nobody would
ever think of using. Let's take a look at Tentacruel,
it can inflict some good status, it has a free
retreat.
That's not bad...Hmmm, how can we make that status
better? Maybe we could confuse and poisen the
defending pokemon, and lock it in the active position,
making that pokemon helpless. Hmmm???Who can lock the
active?
Murkrow can, it can use mean look, and can come down
right away. So let's look at the pokemon so far. We
have tentacruel, tentacool, and murkrow. All have free
retreats, and are great together. The only problem is
lack of damage to the active. Sneasel can dish out a
lot of damage, and has a free retreat. That would be a

perfect addition. Disablers need high amounts of the
cards that they play. I will explain later. So here
are the pokemon for this deck:

4 Fossil Tentacool
4 Fossil Tentacruel
4 Neo Murkrow
4 Neo Sneasel

Now the trainers. For tentacruel and murkrow to stay
alive we need a lot of trainer disruption. It gets rid
of their recovery tools, and gives the status lock a
huge edge. We want 4 lass, possibly 4 rocket sneak
attack, and possibly 4 chaos gym, maybe even imposter
oak's revenge. Our search engine will be 4 Oak, and 4
Computer Search for the obvious reasons. The reason
that there are no item finder or bill/erika, is
because disablers simply don't need them. You will
probably have to playtest to understand, as it is a
complicated issue. Hmmm...so we have our trainer
disruption and search engine. The last few slots are
matter of taste and the concept of the deck. Some
trainers work better than other trainers in disablers.
For this deck, we'll add more disruption via super
energy removal and gust of wind. The enrgy count is
usually around 14-18, a little high compared to some
decks, but disablers live on cosistancy. So the full
deck is below:

4 Fossil Tentacool
4 Fossil Tentacruel
4 Neo Murkrow
4 Neo Sneasel

4 Professor Oak
4 Computer Search
4 Lass
4 Rocket Sneak Attack
4 Chaos Gym
4 Super Energy Removal
4 Gust of Wind

4 Darkness Energy
4 Rainbow Energy
8 Water Energy

So all in all, disablers take useless cards, and use
them in competitive decks. This deck revives
tentacruel
using trainer disruption to hold off the opponant as
they suffer the harsh status. Disabler type decks make
so many pokemon playable. F.Tentacruel, K.Weezing,
Lt.S. Jolteon, and so many, many more. You can make
your own fun strategies, and still beat that wiggly or
hay. It's just plain fun using fun pokemon, and still
winning. I could go on and on rambling about this
awesome deck, but most of you are probably on the
virge of sleep(if you haven't dozed of already). So
have fun with the deck, and go win some tournies!

*Sorry for this being such a long article!*
