I hope this is well-written enough to make it into the "TCG Strategies" section, because I've written many articles to this section before and have had none posted...also this is the topic I feel the strongest about. I know this technically isn't a strategy, but there's nowhere else for it to go This article might be better called, "What are you doing for the Pokemon community?" I read a lot of the Top of the World articles recently...and one thing offended me. A lot of the top 100 players in the world aren't telling their friends that they play Pokemon! (Phil Mondiello is the greatest offender of them all!) If they're not bringing in new people, then exactly what are they doing for the community? If you weren't supposed to get others in on it, then why is there a bonus for bringing new members into Pokemon League, and a bigger one for teaching them how to play? Why are you only able to get some Pokemon through trading with someone else on the Game Boy game? Pokemon is a great way to make new friends and cement older friendships. These people that are keeping the game to themselves and not trying to teach others...I despise them. I would go as far as to say that these kind of people should lose their current DCI ranking and be omitted from any future DCI rankings. What are you doing for yourself, Wizards (even though they don't deserve it that much with these new tournament formats), and most importantly, your friends if you haven't brought them into the Pokemon world? All I'm trying to say is...the first step (and one of the most important) steps in becoing a truly awesome player is trying to bring your friends to the same level of greatness you have achieved. Agree, disagree, have points to add or counterpoints? Please post them AND e-mail me at MewtwoStruckBack@aol.com. This way everyone can see your opinions on the subject. (Bringing your opinion on Pokemon out into the open...that's what the article's about!)
