Here is the next card in my series to be individually reviewed: Brock's Ninetales! Below, I will list combos and tricks to use it appropriately. This is where I teach you how to fix the problem or abuse the privilege... ** 70 HP- Recently, 70 has been the cut-off for cards to be good or not. I believe that it will hold its own in this category, but as always, there are always Gold Berry and Focus Band. ** Bottom Stats- Well, its weakness is Water. Water is not a threat any more. Blastoise isn't being used at all. Resistance is none. And, retreat is one. No special trainers are needed for this. ** Attack- Will o' the wisp. For an attack, 30 for two Fire is ok. I wouldn't rely on this, though. For a better attack, look below... **SHAPESHIFT!!!- This is what makes the card what it is. Being able to turn into any evolution in one turn is a great thing to take advantage of. Your opponent won't know what's coming at them. If you use Will o' the Wisp one turn, the next, you could do 100 by turning to a Dark Charizard. Listed below are some things Brock's Ninetales can Shapeshift into efficiently: * Base set Charizard: Energy Burn is not permitted under Brock's Ninetales, but there is finally a nice way to get out Charizard. AND, once Charizard runs out of energy, you can get rid of him, back for the Brock's Ninetales. * Ninetales: Lure is nice if no Gust of Wind in your hand, but Fire Blast is fine for 80. * Arcanine: Flamethrower and Take Down do 50 damage and 80 respectively. Once again, if you "Flamethrower" your energy away, you can immediately discard Arcanine back to B's Ninetales. *Clefable: Once your opponent gets out something great like Rocket's Zapdos, just turn into Clefable and Metronome Electroburn for 70 damage with 1 Colorless energy. *Flareon: This card hasn't really seen a use. But, once again, the Flamethrower technique is available for 60 damage. * Dark Charizard: Two words: CONTINUOUS FIREBALL! That could dish out 100 or more damage like nothing without going through those annoying Charmanders. * Blaine's Arcanine: Firestorm will do 120, but for 4 energy. I see no real point in using Heat Tackle, when Brock's Ninetales has Will o' the wisp. It just does 10 more damage, and 10 to self. * Blaine's Charizard: Flame Jet and Roaring Flames. Enough said. * Blaine's Ninetales: Once again, it's Pokemon Power can't be used, but 50 damage for 2 Fire with a 50-50 chance of losing all energy is still great. At the point at which you lose your energy, just revert to Brock's Ninetales. * Togetic: Very similar to Clefable above, but only if heads, but you can copy anything from your opponent's bench. Don't leave it out too long, because HP isn't great. Pretty much any Fire or Colorless evolution works with this card. Overall, Brock's Ninetales will receive a 9 out of 10. Send any decks, requests for future "How to Use" articles, etc. should be sent to me at Baboonskin@aol.com. Have fun! -Chris
