Hello everyone, nikePK here again with another edition of -Overlooked-.  Before
we get to the next pokemon that I’ll review, I’d like to say that Lt. Surge’s
Raticate now gets a lower rating because of that annoyance known as Unown N, I
now give him a 8.9/10. Anyway, today I’m gonna be looking at these overlooked
Pokemon: Elekid, Erika’s Vileplume, and Erika’s Victreebell.

First up: It’s Elekid!

Stats: Baby pokemon, 30 hp, 0 retreat, no weak or resist, electric type, has NO
attacks, has a pokemon power.
Pokemon Power- Playful Punch- Once during your turn (before you attack) you may
flip a coin, if heads do 20 damage to you opponent’s Active Pokemon (apply
weakness and resistance) Either way, this ends your turn, Power can’t be used if
paralyzed, confused or asleep.

With all the fuss over another baby pokemon, Cleffa, Elekid seems to not have
much place in many decks, but he can be good when used correctly. Elekid works
his magic best while on the bench. When your active has attacks that require
more energy than you have, you can use Elekid’s pokemon power to do some damage,
and 20 for no energy is quite good, even though you need to flip. This works
good with pokemon that can’t do much attacking but can stall well. Mr mime is a
good example, because of so much resistance, his meditate attack isn’t going to
do damage, but you can use elekid as the attacker to get some damage on the
defending pokemon so meditate can do something, while Mime (hopefully) won’t be
taking much damage due to his power. Another combo is with Erika’s Dratini. If
the opponent has something like sprout tower out, your dratini isn’t going to be
doing anything attack wise, but Dratini can be a good stall while you attack
with elekid. All in all I give Elekid a 6.5/10 cuz later in the game your going
to need to be doing more than 20 and he is easily Ko’d even with the baby rule.

 Next: Erika’s Vileplume

Stats: Grass type, 80hp, stage 2 from erika’s gloom, 2 retreat, Pokemon Power,
weak to fire, no resistance.
Pokemon Power- Pollen Defense- If an attack does damage to Erika’s Vileplume,
while its your active pokemon (even if its Ko’d), flip a coin, If heads your
opponent’s active pokmon is now confused. This power works even while Erika’s
Vileplume is asleep, confused, or paralyzed.
Attack-  (GGG) Mega Drain- (30) If Erika’s Vileplume does damage to the
Defending Pokemon (after applying weakness and resistance) remove a number of
damage countrs from E’s Vileplume equal to half the damage done to the defending
pokemon (rounded up to the nearest 10). If Erika’s Vileplume has fewer damage
counters than that, remove all of them.

Whew, that’s a lot of typing. Erika’s Vileplume has a fairly solid line of
evolution, making him quite playable which is good, because once you get the
plume out, you can set off a bomb to your opponent. There are a few combos to
work with when you have this guy as your active. Today, confusion and poison
aren’t really that big of a deal anymore because of a lot of pokemon having a
free retreat cost, like Sneasel, Cleffa, and Scyther. So to counter that you can
put in The Rocket’s Training gym to have their retreat cost upped by one. Once
confused you can remove any damage that is done to you with Mega Drain, to
insure that his 80hp will last quite a while. 20 removed every turn isn’t too
shabby. To create mass confusion to your opponent you can add in Base Set
Koffing into the deck with switches. It may take a while to get them both pumped
up, but then you can confuse and poison your enemy and they won’t be able to
retreat so easily because of confusion flip And the gym. Overall I give Erika’s
Vileplume a 7/10 because of his nice healing capablilites and good evo line.

And last but not least, Erika’s Victreebell.

Stats- 80hp, grass type, stage 2 from Erika’s Weepinbell. fire weakness, no
resistance, has a pokemon power, 2 retreat
Pokemon Power- Fragrence Trap- Once during your turn(before you attack) you may
flip a coin. If heads and if your opponent has any benched pokemon, choose one
of them and switch it with his or her active pokemon, this power can’t be used
if Erika’s Victreebell is asleep, confused, or paralyzed.
Attack- (GGG)   Razor Leaf (50)

This guy is pure 0wnage. His power is wonderful when combined with certain
cards (I’ll get into that later) and he totally destroys Murkrow and Dark Plume
decks. His attack is the only GGG for 50 attack in the game (I believe) and he
has one of the best evolution lines in the game! First off, Fragrence trap works
wonders when your opponent is playing slowking, now you don’t have to put in
many gust of wind into your deck and now you can bring that slowking out and KO
it quickly. Fragrence trap with a heads flip also gets rid of Murkrow’s mean
look, and can be as deadly as a gust of wind to ditto or any weak pokemon on the
bench. Combining Erika’s Victreebell with Chaos gym gives you an upper hand in
the match. They can struggle to get their gust of winds down on the board while
you get to flip for each Victreebell you have EVERY turn for some great control.
Now you have nothing to fear when you eeek with your Cleffa, because Murkrow can
always be “gusted” out of the active position to get rid of mean look’s effect.
Dark Vileplume decks get murdered by this guy because now you can finally bring
out the big bad plume and knock him out with 1-2 shots with victreebell or any
other pokes you have. Combining Victreebell with Erika’s Dratini lets you bring
out basic pokemon from their bench almost every turn and start pounding on them.
With one plus power you can KO a Sneasel with Razor Leaf.  Almost nothing stands
in Victreebell’s way except for Big Fire pokemon, but as long as you can keep
knocking out the basic forms of the big guys (Arcanine, Blaine’s Rapidash) he
stays alive for a long time. Sneasel can also cause problems since he is so
fast, but if you can fit Energy Removal in the deck or Erika’s Dratini, then you
can stop him a bit easier. This guy gets a WONDERFUL 9.8/10 and a 10/10 in the
ECSTS 2001 regulations. Victreebell’s pre evolution, Weepinbell is awesome with
Sleep Poison for GC and a 40 for GGC creates time for Victreebell to come out.
Victreebell is best benched but can come out for attacking when not much is
posing a threat to his living.
