Yes, the title does have 2 meanings. I'm going to be talking about the part of Pokemon nobody thinks about, the mental game. Fear, frustration, and mental errors. Today I'll talk about fear and coin flips. By the way, this is not for younger players. This is a very advanced part of Pokemon.
Why do you think of coin flips? Many people have said that their unpredictability makes them bad. I say that's exactly what makes them good. Being unpredictable. Let me give you an example. Fearow's Drill Peck and Dragonite's Slam against a 70HP Pokemon. Against Drill Peck, they'll just think about the 40 damage it always does and leave their active there. But against Slam, they'll not onlt think about the 40 damage average, they are bound to think about the possible 80 and may make a different decision, such as choosing to retreat. Against a 40HP Pokemon with Drill Peck, they'll want to get it out of there. But versus Slam, they may leave it there and hope for a pair of Tails. Even before the attack has been made, the coin flips have made a potentially game-deciding difference.
Wiggly or Sneasel? This is the biggest controversy in the Pokemon TCG. I've always said Wiggly, but now I say Sneasel. Why? Fear Factor. It's what Beat Up can do, not what it usually does. That, my friends, is the difference. Do you dare to face the coin?
