It's my first post on the strategies section.  
I'll be quick and right to the point.


I found something that may make things clear about the use of Brock's Protection and its use on a Borck's Ninetails. These quotes come straight from the TCG Rulings and you can find them at Wizards Pokemon site.

Q: If attaching an Evolution card to Brock’s Ninetales does not count as evolving, can I attach an Evolution card to it while Aerodactyl is in play (which has Prehistoric Power, a Pokémon Power that says no more Evolution cards can be played)? A: Yes. (Nov 30, 2000, WotC Chat)

Q: Brock’s Protection does not say how long it stays in play. Is it discarded after my opponent’s next turn, or does it stay attached to the Pokémon? A: It stays on that Pokémon while that Pokémon is in play. (Oct 19, 2000, WotC Chat)

Q: If Brock’s Ninetales has a non-Brock Evolution card attached to it, can I attach Brock’s Protection to Brock’s Ninetales? A: No. (Oct 26, 2000, WotC Chat)

Q: If Brock’s Ninetales already has Brock’s Protection attached to it, and then I attach a non-Brock Evolution card to it, does Brock’s Protection still work and prevent the Energy removal? A: Yes, as long as you attach Brock’s Protection BEFORE you attach the non-Brock Evolution card. (Oct 26, 2000, WotC Chat)

What does this mean boys and girls?  

It means that:

1) Brock's Ninetails' Pokemon Power bypasses Fossil Areodactyl's Pokemon Power. Therefore, you CAN play evolutions, but only on Brock's Ninetails.

2) Brock's Ninetails CAN be protected by Brock's Protection AS LONG AS you attach it to Brock's Ninetails BEFORE you activate Brock's Ninetails Pokemon Power, "Shapeshift." 


I'll even throw it a little extra. you can mix in your deck Dark Dragonair's Pokemon Power "Evolutionary Light" and you can pull whatever evolution you like form your deck at any time during your turn. If you discard the evolution (or it gets discarded), you can always get it back to your deck with a Nightly Garbage Run and do it all over again...see the pattern!?!?!
