I recently go the Southern Islands set and I will compare Fossil Lapras to 
Southern Islands Lapras.

Fossil Lapras:
Lapras: 80 HP
Retreat cost: CC
W: Lightning
R: None
Attacks: 
Water Gun 10+ (W) :  Does 10 damage plus 10 more damage for each W energy 
attached to Lapras but not used to pay for this attack's Energy cost. You 
can't add more than 20 damage in this way.

Confuse Ray 10 (W W): Flip A coin. If heads, the defending Pokemon is now 
Confused.

Notes: A decent card. If you have three water energies attached it can knock 
out baby Pokemon with a heads. Hefty Retreat cost and decent HP for a Basic 
Pokemon.

Southern Islands Lapras:
Lapras 70 HP
Retreat Cost: C
W: Lightning
R: None
Attacks:
Gentle Song (C) : if Lapras has any damage counters on it, remove 2 of them 
(or 1 if it only has 1). If the Defending Pokemon has any damage counters on 
it, remove 2 of them from it (1 if it only has one). The Defending Pokemon is 
now Asleep.

Ice Beam 20 (WW) Flip a coin. If heads, the Defending Pokemon is now 
Paralyzed.

Notes: One less retreat cost than Fossil Lapras. 10 Less HP than Fossil 
Lapras. If Lapras isn't first to attack and takes damage it can get rid of it 
and put the defending Pokemon to sleep. Ice Beam is decent since it can 
Paralyze.
 
Next Time I will be comaring Exeggutor to Southern Islands Exeggutor. I will 
let you in on a hint: Meganium will be much more appreciated.
