This is Dragon Master once again signing in. Today I've got an article on a near dead Colorless Pokémon that has been seen as an anti-Sneasel/Haymaker/BBP strategy since the late months of Neo Genesis and saw loads of play during Gym: Heroes and Gym: Challenge. Yes, he doesn't exactly pack a wallop, but he's a great staller. Erika's Dratini's Strange Barrier Pokémon Power is not Active Stall since he doesn't pack a major wallop in his attack, but nonetheless, he is a staller. Against a Haymaker, Slashtap, SwordDancer, FTKO, Sneasel deck, or any of the other BBP decks, he can be of major use. But, you probably ask yourself, what happens if my opponent evolves or has a way of stopping Pokémon Powers? Well, a deck that died in June against the cards from Neo Discovery, AeroMew, can be your answer. Basically, you have to stop them from evolving and stopping Pokémon Powers. I know exactly how to do this. Grow Up or Meet Your Doom: Pokémon(15): 3 Erika's Dratini 3 Aerodactyl 2 Mew(League Promo) 3 Chansey 2 Igglybuff(Neo Discovery) 2 Cleffa(Neo Genesis) Trainers(25): 2 Miracle Berry 3 Professor Oak 2 Computer Search 2 Item Finder 3 Gold Berry 3 Berry 2 No Removal Gym 4 Fossil Egg 1 Mysterious Fossil 2 Energy Charge 2 Gust of Wind 3 Lass Energy(16): 4 Double Colorless Energy 4 Metal Energy 4 Psychic Energy 4 Recycle Energy This deck is sort of a combination between AeroMew and Steel Chansey. Its main strategy is to get Aerodactyl, Mew, and Erika's Dratini out to use their advantages. The Pokémon are rather simple. Erika's Dratini is the main Pokémon in this deck. Its Strange Barrier Pokémon Power gives you a defense against BBPs like Rocket's Zapdos, Electabuzz, Sneasel, Gligar, Scyther, etc. Tail Strike isn't the best attack ever, but it'll have to do. Besides, he's only a staller. Aerodactyl is a way to keep Erika's Dratini from suffering from an evolved Pokémon's damage. Its Pokémon Power will cancel out Evolution. By doing this, it keeps big boys like Arcanine, Blastoise, Houndoom, Slowking, etc., from coming into the playing field. But, you ask yourself, what if I don't get Aerodactyl out in time? Simple: Here's where Mew comes in. Aerodactyl comes into play with a nasty Evolution in play. Well, Mew's Devolution Beam can take care of that. Mew's Devolution Beam will make it so your opponent has to go through the thinking process of re-evolving a Pokémon with Aerodactyl in play, which there are a couple of ways to do(Igglybuff and Magby). If Magby comes in, due to Wizards of the Coast's recent ruling around Magby, we are able to stop it with Gust of Wind so that its effect can be cancelled out. As for Igglybuff, that's a different story. Igglybuff is included in the deck in case Slowking or Dark Vileplume come into play before Aerodactyl or Mew, so that it will give you the time to stop Slowking's wrath. However, Igglybuff is also a threat to the deck's design. The only way we can stop it in this deck is to hope that we can get a successful attack in that can wallop it for 30, like Aerodactyl's Slash(even though Aerodactyl isn't used for its attack, the Baby Power won't keep Igglybuff alive forever since it can be Gusted out and beaten within a couple of turns on average). Cleffa is in the deck for the same reason it's in almost every other deck. Professor Oak, Computer Search, and Item Finder are our main advantage cards. Oak draws cards fast, Computer Search lets us search for what we want when we need it, and Item Finder lets us retrieve valuable Trainers. Miracle Berry is not for every deck, but it will serve its purpose on Erika's Dratini in case it is affected by a status effect. Berry is used mostly for Erika's Dratini and Gold Berry works good with a Steel Chansey(a Chansey dealing 60 damage for 2 Metal and 1 Double Colorless). Gust of Wind is there for superb advantage, as usual. Lass is our main Trapper card. It helps us plan ahead, leave our opponents Trainerless, and restore our library. No Removal Gym stops those annoying Energy Removal and Super Energy Removal cards. Energy Charge is based on a coin flip, but if it's successful, it allows you to get back needed Energy. While some of you are asking why I only included 1 Mysterious Fossil, it's because Mysterious Fossil is TecH. It's only there if Fossil Egg is unsuccessful. Fossil Egg is based on a coin flip, but it helps you to obtain Aerodactyl as a Basic. Mysterious Fossil is there if Fossil Egg is unsuccessful, and if you need a decoy(a card which makes your opponent think he/she knows what will happen next, allowing you to cook up a surprise. In this case, Mysterious Fossil would be a decoy for a Fossil Egged Aerodactyl, followed by the appearance of Mew and Erika's Dratini.). Double Colorless Energy is there for Chansey speed while Metal Energy assists the Steel Chansey. Chansey will only do 60, but only 40 to itself, which you can Gold Berry away. Potion Energy helps get rid of that extra 10 left on Erika's Dratini after you Berry 20 away. Recycle Energy is an anti-Removal and a retreating tool. Psychic Energy powers Mew. I hope you guys liked this deck. Remember, it's only an idea. Change it to fit your style. And if you liked this deck, don't miss my next deck, Magic Tricks(don't get confused, it's a Pokémon deck.)
