Hello from the new mewlennium!--1

I was skimming through the spoilers of the Neo 2 set (here at the Pojo) until I came across this card:

Scyther
Type: Basic Grass Pokemon
LV.24, HP 60
GG: Power Slash: 10+
Effect: Flip 4 coins.  If 1 is heads, this attack does 10 more
damage; if 2 are heads, this attack does 20 more damage; if
3 are heads, this attack does 40 more damage; if 4 are heads,
this attack does 80 more damage.
-C Retreat
R Weakness
F Resistance (Damage -30)
No. 123 (Uncommon)

Ah yes, Scyther. We have seen a couple cards featuring this Pokemon so far. The one from the Jungle set can deal 30 damage with any three energies (or 60 if it uses Swords Dance on the previous turn). The one from the Gym Heroes set [Rocket's Scyther] can deal 40 damage with one grass and any two energies, plus it has an attack in which it can avoid being damaged. Now how much can this Scyther deal in damage for its solo attack with two grass energies, without the aid of anything else?

Now I should point out first that IF the translation of the card is correct and IF this translation will be the same on the English version of this card when the Neo Discovery set comes out and IF I'm correct, then Scyther's attack will deal

10 damage (10+ 0 more) if no heads are flipped
20 damage (10+10 more) if 1 head is flipped
30 damage (10+20 more) if 2 heads are flipped
50 damage (10+40 more) if 3 heads are flipped
90 damage (10+80 more) if 4 heads are flipped

Doing the math, Scyther can deal an average of 35 damage with just two grass energies!
That seems a lot of damage, but a lot of it comes from that 1 in 16 chance of getting 4 heads and dealing 90 damage. Also, this is the only attack this Scyther has. Overall, it gives a respectable amount of damage (most of the time: 30) and probably even more. Watch out for fire Pokemon, of course! My rating: 4/5.
