First of all Tyler, have you ever heard of Scoop Up? Ditto is an awesome
card with an awesome ability. He transforms into your opponents Pokemon, but
could use any type of energy. Of course there are some downfalls to this
card, but so does every other Pokemon, ie. weakness and resistance. Now let
me counter all the situations you used.

Gust of Wind: With 50 damage on him.....got me on that one.

Paralyzing, sleep or confusion: lets say Ditto did have 50 damage on him,
but Lapras flipped a tails. Now Ditto has the possibility of confusing
Lapras.

Ditto having to retreat because he has lots of damage on him: Scoop him up.
Killing a pokemon: When Ditto kills a pokemon, which is common for my Ditto,
and my opponent brings up Weedle...so what. Ditto doesn't automatically die.
He'll die only if       he has 40 or more damage on him. Like I said before,
Scoop him up.
Ditto VS another ditto, clefairy, or a clefable: Ditto can't do anything,
but neither can they.
Ditto VS Muk: You got me on that one too. So I just say, Scoop him up.
Ditto VS the popular rain dance deck: Ditto can Raindance water energy
because when your opponent has a Blastoise out thatn Ditto is a Blastoise
too. Making him a water pokemon.
Ditto VS a psychic deck: Ditto loses his precious phychic resistance and
gains a weakness to the enemy... and so do they.
Ditto VS a really sucky deck:  ???What's a really sucky deck???
There you have it. Ditto isn't really as bad as you made him out to be. You
can't always just look at the negative part about a card and make an
immediate judgement. I'm not saying your opinion is invalid. I'm saying that
you need to look at the good and the bad of a card before you trash it.
