Rednecks are really annoying.

Anyway, my name is robodude.  Those of you who have ever been to the pokemon site will most likely know that I'm the guy who trashed NEO genisis Sneasel 2 years ago.  Well I've sold my proverbial "ticket to the SS Ann" and traded it in for a Rod of Ruin.  I took a break from writing for about 2 years, but now I'm back with a plan.  My claim to fame on the pokemon site was trying to get underappreciated cards more respect and I shall do so on this portion of the site as well.  In Mirrodin I found one such card that I thought deserved attention.  Its name:  Leveler

Leveler
5
Artifact creature
When leveler comes into play, remove your library from the game
10/10

Yeah.  That's what I thought, but the drawback isn't all that bad if you know how to react to it.

How to not loose on turn 6 via decking
1.    Words of War/Wilding/Worship/etc.
If you have the mana to do so, you can use these to gain a ton of life, bounce a ton of stuff, do even more damage than your already doing, etc by skipping your draw.

2.    Feldon's Cane/Reminisce/etc.+Traumatize/Mental Note/etc.
Get you library in your graveyard, play Leveler, activate the Cane(or play Reminisce or whatever) to get your library back.

3.    Obsinate Familiar
Just use its ability to keep skipping the draw.  Duh.

4.    Stifle
Surprisingly, this is the last one I thought of.  Just Stifle the removal ability and you'll have both your 10/10 and your library

Here's a deck I thought of using the Leveler+Stifle combo:

24   Lands
4     Seat of the Synod
4     Stalking Stones
16   Islands

8     Creatures
4     Silver Myr
4     Leveler

28   Spells
4     Stifle
4     Merchant Scroll
4     Lightning Greaves
4     Rewind
4     Thoughtcast
4     Assert Authority

The basic idea of this deck is to play Lightning Greaves early on, use the Myr as mana acceleration, and try to play both Leveler and Stifle on the same turn (about turn 5 or 6) then give it haste with the Greaves and hit your opponent with a 10/10 untargetable.  Can't find Stifle? Merchant Scroll and thoughtcast can take care of that
My challenge to you, the readers, is to create you own leveler deck (any format) and submit it to me.  I'll post a few decks that I like or think are interesting in a later article.

To submit your decks or to yammer on about how absurd you think this is e-mail me at
robodudermg@aol.com.  Any viruses will be sent back to the people who sent them.
