Subject: GWR Recycle (new extended) - Matt Bove Green cards (35): 4x Recycle 4x Priest of Titania 4x Llanowar Elf 4x Skyshroud Elf 4x Birchlore Ranger 4x Seeker of Skybreak 4x Wall of Blossoms 4x Crop Rotation 3x Birds of Paradise White Cards (3): 3x Enlightened Tutor Gold Cards (5): 2x Meteor Storm 2x Fires of Yavimaya 1x Sterling Grove Land (17): 11x Forest 1x Thran Quarry 1x Brushland 1x Karplusan Forest 3x Gaea's Cradle The main object of the deck is to kill with Meteor Storm (Stormbind substitute in new extended) with the help of a lot of cards from recycles and a lot of mana from cradles and priests. The deck is capable of third turn kills, although not terribly consisent, but forth turn kills are common. I was debating whether or not to run a fourth cradle because they are godly to crop rotate into, but I decided against it at the risk of drawing one too many by accident. The deck ditchs threat removal for speed and it is well worth it in my opinion especially in the currect metagame. I decided to go with seeker of skybreak rather than wirewood elf based on a friend's suggestion - it's potential to untap an elf-buff priest was too good to pass up. Birchlore rangers are a little interesting, at first glance seeming to be a rather second or third tier card, but their ability allows friends with summoning sickness to play a part in a turn when they would normally be more or less out of the picture. An important note when using crop rotation, enlightened tutor or sterling grove: Be aware that you can alter the stack in your favor in situations where you play one of these and have recycle in play. Take note of the current setup and decide whether it would be more beneficial to draw before or after you search your library. In most cases (especially when crop rotating for a Cradle) you'll want to draw after you search so you don't risk drawing the card you want by accident. A remake of my recycle deck from old extended (with ice age and mirage blocks.) The deck loses a lot of speed with the absence of Quirion Ranger and Fyndhorn Elf, but it recovers fairly well and surprisingly enough holds up against some of the tougher matches like Reanimator. One of your biggest and hardest opponents will be Sligh - their ability to nuke all of your creatures before you can start to pose a threat is very tough to get by. I left the sideboard out of this build purposely because frankly I'm not very good at constructing them. Your biggest lifesaver against sligh is most likely going to be a sideboarded Eladamdri, Lord of the Leaves and some good life-gain to keep you alive until you can find him. Its an extremely fun deck, if not terribly serious. Its so much fun watching your opponent's shocked face when you go on to kill them with a crappy card like meteor storm on turn 3. I'd love to hear comments and suggestions for main deck and sideboard. Email me at tumultuoustempus@hotmail.com or talk to me on AIM screenname Tumultuoustempus Good luck, have fun, -Matt Bove
