From: Rasputin [lebe0022@mrs.umn.edu] Sent: Friday, January 24, 2003 7:28 PM To: mtgstaff@pojo.com Subject: Goblin Infestation --- David Lebedoff This is a highly potent combo that I have used in a goblin deck of mine to get out the goblins in large numbers: Goblin Offensive *Sorcery* {Urza's Saga, uncommon} [2 red, 1 colorless and X] Put X Goblin tokens into play. Treat them as 1/1 creatures. Brightstone Ritual *Instant* {Onslaught, common} [1 red] Add one red mana to your mana pool for every Goblin in play. The combo should be fairly self-evident... however many Goblins you have out at any particular moment is how much more mana you can potentially use in the Goblin Offensive besides lands and the like. I have also in this Goblin deck included 3 (will eventually have a 4th) Goblin Kings to help things along not only in terms of power and toughness Goblin-wise, but sheer mana conservation as well. For example, If you have, say, two Goblin Kings out when you do this combo, then its like you're putting a bunch of 3/3 mountainwalking Goblin tokens into play for only one red mana each, as opposed to like 3 or 4 or 5 mana. I have been also considering adding to this combo a card called: Mana Echoes *Enchantment* {Onslaught, rare} [2 red, 2 colorless] Whenever a creature comes into play, you may add [1 colorless] to your mana pool for each creature you control that shares a creature type with it. I have not yet included this card into this combo for two reasons: 1) I havent got any yet! :P 2) It's rare, making it a touch pricey, especially since the other two cards are common and uncommon, respectively. So if you are having trouble finding Mana Echoes at your local MtG/comic book store, its not a biggie. The two-card combo works quite well on its own, especially with all the tons of weenie goblins easily available to help you get this thing rolling. Mana Echoes would be useful if you wanted to be truly cruel to your opponent, but as I said before, its not required, which ought to help out all those MtG players on fairly limited budgets like me. =) Peace, Love, Out, David Lebedoff lebe0022@cda.mrs.umn.edu
