Heres a type one deck that works without the power nine so it isnt that expensive to make and can compete.

Allright how this deck works is rather simple.

Illusions of Grandeur : Enchantment. (B)3  . Cumulative upkeep: 2. When Illusions of Grandeur comes into play, gain 20 life. When Illusions of grandeur leaves play,  lose 20 life.

Donate : Sorcery. (B)2.  Target player gains control of target permenant you control.

You win simply by castin illusions on yourself, gaining 20 life. Then donating it to your opponent and watch them die withing 3 or 4 turns after they cant pay the cum upkeep and losing 20 life ( they dont get the 20 life when you donate it but lose the 20 ) since cum upkeep is 2 then 4 then 6. Also you can chain of vapor the Illusions when its on their side for an insta lose 20 life

The rest of the deck is heavy counter and HEAVY card draw. It is very easy to get the combo. You basically want to try and get an intuition early if you can ( merchant scroll and mystical tutor lets you search for an instant.   Intuition : Instant. (B)2 : Search your library for 3 cards and revel them to your opponent, they choose one for you to keep and the rest are discarded. Take 3 Accumulated knowledges and then you have the poor mans ansestral recall and get to draw 3 cards. Then if you already had on A.K in your hand or another M.Scroll your drawing 4 next time. With that type of hand advantage this deck is a monster.

I built it 2 weeks ago and its been winning almost every time. I play tested it against a type one tournement winning Morphling/counter deck with half the power nine in it. It was a great game and I almost won, but after I tapped out to donate my illusions to him and used 2 F.O.W to counter his counters, the next turn heTutored for a Zuron orb which left him at 2. So any life gain really messes this deck up so its good to counter ANYTHIGN that gives them life.
