Killer deck: Adam Giles - Anthrax Anthrax V.1 by Adam Giles Great Escape Green Bay, Wisconsin Sunday, May 24th, 2004 Roughly 5 total participants I haven't played in years. On impulse, I decided to get back into the game. I looked for leagues and found one that would be playing tomorrow. So I went. I didn't have a deck and didn't plan on playing. I met a nice girl there who was great about the game and had 12-ish decks. We looked through each other's cards for a trade. She told me that they play Unlimited there so since I had litterally thousands of cards, I'd be able to make a good deck. She gave me some extra cards to make my deck really awesome. This is what we came up with: 2x Jungle Exeggcute 2x Jungle Exeggutor 2x Fossil Grimer 1x Rocket Grimer 1x Fossil Muk 2x Dark Muk 1x Base Weedle 1x Base Kakuna 1x Neo: Discovery Beedrill 2x Neo: Genesis Magby 1x Rocket Ekans 1x Sandstorm Arbok 1x Base Pinsir 1x Neo: Destiny Scyther 1x Pokemon Trader 3x Professor Oak 2x Gust of Wind 1x Computer Search 2x Poke Ball 1x Bill's Maintenence 1x Potion 3x Bill 1x Moo-Moo Milk 24x Grass Energy This week wasn't an actual league, so we just randomly battled each other. Round 1: Vs. Same girl (Team Magma deck, 6 Prizes) She told me about the rule changes because I told her I might be a little rusty. I won after I retreated 1 of my Pokemon. I sent out Scyther. With Scyther's Sharp Sickle, some luck, and some GoW's, I won. Her Mighteyena almost KO'd a few of my Pokemon before I killed it. Round 2: Vs. Guy with glasses (Grass/Lightening Deck, 4 Prizes) He used Oddish's Sleep Powder to keep my Dark Muk down. At 10 HP left, he was scared to kill it because I would send out my Eggsegutor who now had 11 energies on it. Big mistake. I woke up and retreated Muk for Exeggutor and dominated the rest of the match with my Big Explosion. Final: Vs. Girl who's brother brought me snacks and thought I was a girl (Same deck, 4 Prizes) I'd just taught her to play, so she got a few of the rules messed up. Nothing major, just every so often tried to play a Gloom as a stage 1 Pokemon. Her Electabuzz kept the energy moving around the board. I got 1 prize with the help of Magby and GoW, and another thanks to my Exeggutor (Only 6 energy this time), but the star of the show was Beedrill with triple Poison and Twin Needle. On the way home, I thought of a name for the deck. I'd figured it was partly a gift, I would name it after something lethal that came in a box. Closest I came up with was Anthrax.
