Entei/Cargo (and burnt hoppip)
Johnny/Patriarch

February 17, 2003

Ahem. Welcome to my first tournament report in quite some time. (Begins to act very formal and gentleman-like) Now please listen to my lecture class...wait! Is that gum?!
(Begins to realize that people think this is stupid) Anyways, I had a LOT of fun, and even won some things :D! While most people there had to take a 30 min/1 hour drive, I live literally 5 minutes from the place (Creative Gift Baskets, Etc.), so haha :P

Here is my deck, Entei/Cargo (and burnt Hoppip):

Pokemon (15):

3 Slugma (Neo Destiny)
3 Magcargo (Neo Revelation)
2 Hoppip (Aquapolis)
3 Cleffa (Neo Genesis)
1 Magmar (Promo)
3 Entei (Neo Revelation)

Trainers (25):

4 Double Gust
4 Bill
4 Focus Band
3 Prof. Oak's Research
3 Pokemon Trader
3 Scoop Up
2 Gold Berry
2 Time Capsule

Energy (20):
20 Fire (9 Foily!)

Pre-Tournament:
After my Dad dropped me off, I met up with some dudes I know. David (a top player up at my league), Jordan (another decent player, but doesn't go to league anymore), and Eric, who is having hist first tournament. I played a couple games, did some trades, bought some packs... all that good, fun stuff!
Anyways, the tournament games:

Round 1: VS Gilbert (Kingcenter)

I don't have much to say about this game. While I played hard, it seemed my anti-water Hoppip strategy failed miserably. While I lost, I began to realize that hoppip failed me, and miserably :(. Still, I was proud to play against an opponent with a good deck (0-1)

Round 2: VS kid who I didn't get name of (water deck)

Fast game actually. While she stalled out with a weird swinub/jynx strategy, my fire prevailed. Through a combo of magmar and Magcargo, I won (1-1)

Round 3: VS kid with Rogue Charizard

Wow. I cannot believe a Charizard deck did so well aginst me. While in the end I won, she managed to stall out for a looong time. While an entei and a magcargo fell prey to the Charizard, I won (2-1)

Lunch Break: I didn't waste my Lucnh Break on mere food! For your information, I spent the whole time working on trades, ever enhancing my already "gihugic" collection. And to think they interrupted me when the tournament began! As our good friend Jar-Jar Binks would say, "How Wuude!"

Round 4: VS Devin w/ Donphan

This was an edited version of Mindy's world championship deck, and I was getting close to losing against it. The BBP are what led to his loss though, as I managed to kill off his Hitmonlee/top easily. But the Donphans got me several times. I even had to use a Magmar/Hoppip combo to kill of one. Luckily, I made it with Magcargo, and won (3-1)

Round 5: VS Robert w/ Typhlosion deck

He started with a very poor hand, and within just a few turns.I managed to get out a fully powered Magcargo, and ended the game. However, it seemed he would get his win against me later...in a more high-stakes arena (4-1)

Round 6: VS Martin / Kabutops Steelix

Very good game. I had him down near a close kill for a long time into the game with a Magcargo relentlessly pounding away at the babies. Unfortunately for me, I never managed to get a double gust to prevent the rise of his Kabutops, which slayed the flaming slug king. Then, I had him again on the run with the magmar/hoppip combo that appeared in my fourth game. However, he was experienced enough to deal with it, and after powering up a steelix, killed off the hoppip. From there on, things went down hill in the end. If I had just two more turns, the Kabutops would have been finished with a Magcargo I was building up on the bench. However, a double gust sealed my fate, and ended the game (4-2).

Prize tournament:

Wow. Seems all four of us did very well! I made it in 14-, David and Jordan made it in 15+, and Eric tied with them both for his 1st tournament, making ninth! David, however, went down and the quarterfinals, and Jordan lost in the semifinals. However, my quarterfinal game will be summed up in one sentence.

Round 7: VS Robert (see 5)

I had only one hoppip out, and he KO'd it with cyndaquil (4-3)

Aftermath: Well, it seems in an attempt to try winning more than just playing, I ironically lost due to Hoppip. No matter, considering that I was content with my 6 boosters and oversized Electabuzz, since there are less then 1000 in the world. So in other words, it is one of the rarer cards to find,
hehehe :P (Patriarch is beaten to a bloody pulp by his peers).

So this day, I learned many things: Face the weaker people with humility and reason, face the better people with the same... AND TO BURN HOPPIPS NEXT WEEK!!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!
Oh yeah
