Beating up while playing mind games By Cedric De Papieren Korf Destelbergen, Belgium Sunday, March 24th ,2002 About 18 participants I didn’t really know what deck to play. I decided to play Sneasel/Slowking, but Fable/Muk might just have been better since 7 people where playing Slowking. 18 4 Slowpoke (2 fossil, 2 NG) 4 Slowking (NG, of course) 4 Sneasel (NG, of course) 1 Murkrow 3 Cleffa (again NG) 2 Igglybuff (ND) Trainer 31 4 Item Finder 4 Computer Search 3 Focus Band 3 Lass 3 Gust of Wind 3 SER 3 Professor Oak 2 Elm 2 Energy Charge 2 Switch 1 Sprout Tower 1 NGR 11 4 Darkess 4 Rainbow 3 Recycle First match against player with an illegal deck. I first got a bye but the guy arrived after 5 minutes, when we started the game I saw his deck almost completely consisted out of Neo Destiny, which wasn’t allowed yet. So he got disqualified and I won automatically. Won 2-0 3 (9) Second match small kid with Caterpie(!) deck. When we started the game I had sneasel, killed his Caterpie on my first turn. Then he used some other Pokémon which I could Beat Up. Second game, the kid told me that I wouldn’t keep on laughing because of his ‘Super Pokémon’. He evolved Caterpie into Metapod and then Sneasel KO’ed it. Easy game. Won 2-0 6 (18) Third match vs Andy (one of the strongest players in our area) Started very good, but his deck had lots of anti Slowking tech. I wasn’t able to take advantage of Slowking’s Power. He could just SER/ER my Sneasel to death. The second game I decked. Lost 0-2 6 (18) Forth match vs. Sehiene First game was interesting, it was a good game. I had second turn 2 Slowking, he had one. Unfortunately (for him) I had Igglybuff. Beat up his Pokémon and won. Second game, I was playing very good, when I had only two prizes left he Taunted my King and Mean Looked it KO-ing some Baby’s, Murkrow and Sneasel. I lost the second game Third game, again second turn Slowking. Oaked for the Darkness Energy I needed, and had a sneasel eady by turn two + a full bench. He had a Clefable but with the Sprout Tower in play he wasn’t a real threat. Just kept on Beating Up his pokémon and won. Won 2-1 9 (24) Last match vs. Clint He played Slowking too, the first match I could stop Slowking with Igglybuff and won. The second and third game I lost. (don’t remember much from this match). Lost 1-2 9 (27) Ended up 5th and I won a Japanese Erika theme deck (better then nothing) Props: - To the guy who traded my 2 Steelix for 2 D Gengar. - To the tournament organiser for making everyone win something. - To modified, which is the format the next tournament will be run in. Slops: - To the small kid with his Caterpie/Nidoran/Bellsprout/... deck for insulting me and laughing at me (he really did that :-( ). - SER
