This is my first tournament report and it has almost been a week since the tournament.  I will probably not remember too much as I didn't have time to write anything down in-between rounds.  Rounds were 30 minuets long and it was a four round swiss.  Usually there are multiple age groups at these tournaments but this weekend not enough 15+ and 10 and unders were there, so we got grouped into one big tourney.

Now on to the report,

Round One vs Some Kid (Psychic/Colorless/Fighting)

Before the game even started I had to call the tournament judge over and point out that my opponent had red marks on the back of one of his cards.  Apparently his little brother had gotten ahold of his deck with a red marker and marked some of his cards.  The more noticable ones were an Imposter professor oak, and a Kangaskhan.  *Note*  This is why you should take really good care of your cards.  Right after we made some proxies so he could finish the tournament, the judge announced that at the next tourney if he caught someone with marked cards or proxies they would be asked to leave.  As for the game I really didn't want to play someone this young but we started anyways.  I started with TR Zapdos and started blowing away his pokemon with plasma, SERing the ones that got more than one energy.  I occasionaly switched to MP Mewtwo when they were weak or I could take them out with two shots of Psyburn.  I don't think that he even took a prize.
1-0

Round 2 Vs. Danny Durbin (Electric)

I felt that this would be a very close game, but then Murphy's Law reared it's ugly head behing Danny.  I started with a TR Zapdos as active and one on the bench.  He started with a lone Lt. Surge Electabuzz Non-holo.  I won the toss, attached electirc and plasmaed, he removed the energy and passed.  I attached my second electirc that I had starting and plasmaed, getting the energy that was removed.  He drew and said "That's game..."  He didn't draw any more pokemon or draw power to save himself.  Since we finished so early we decided to play another game just for fun.
2-0

Round 3 Vs. Bret "Kittyfox" Larwick with Resist You!
Deck List after the report.

This is the matchup I was dreading...  Kittyfox had just built the deck the night before the tournament and I helped him out by trading him the cards he needed for it.  We never got a chance to playtest either of our decks until the tournament.  I lost this matchup but I made Kittyfox work for every pokemon he knocked out.  I started with a TR Zapdos active and one benched.  He started with a lone Wooper.  I got to go first and luckily I had a Resistance Gym in my hand which I played, along with my only electric energy just to do 10 damage.  To make this shorter, after I finally knocked out his Wooper he just brought up another one to knock my TR Zapdos out that had 60 damage on it.  During the time we were trading blows I had drawn two more TR Zapdos.  After he knocked out my only pokemon that was doing damage I never drew another lightning energy.  I drew plenty of Psychic energy but I couldn't find a psychic pokemon to put it on.  Also during the match I only saw one bill and one SER.  I kept going by switching my TR Zapdos with the other and Pokemon Centering when needed as he built up his bench.  He finally brought up Sneasel and beat up my two TR Zapdos in the next two turns.  Murphy probably bonked me over the head with a mallet :)
2-1

Round 4 Vs. Some Kid (Psychic/Colorless)

This is probably the only round I cannot completly remember.  Although It was a very close game, we kept trading prizes throughout the match.  But in the end a well placed gust of wind gave me victory.  Now all I had to do is win the Tie Breaks and I would be in the final four.
3-1

Unfortunatly I didn't make it into the final four.  Had my opponent in the first round won at least one game I would have been in for sure, I got edged out by one point.  Kittyfox however was a definate finalist as he didn't lose a single game all day.  Ah well there is always next month's tournament.
