Who: Sandman
What: Tournament
Where: East L.A. Mall Los Angeles, Ca
When: August 27, 2000
How (many): 18 players

This was held at the local mall outside. Man was it a hot day around 100* degrees outside. It was for a first addition booster box of Gym cards. The reason for only 18 players was because there was a $5 fee to enter. Mostly adults entered the tournament. There were 3 kids under 16 so I felt bad for them but hopefully they could prevail and win a couple of games. I really didn't care much about winning so I took a new deck to test it out. Here it is:

Breaking the Wall

3 mr. mime J
3 erikas dratini
3 chansey
4 abra TR
4 kadabra
3 Alakazam

2 oak
3 sabrinas gaze
3 cpu search
2 traders
4 pokecenter
3 sp potions
3 potions
2 scoop up
3 nightly garbage run

15 psychic

There was no time limit so I thought I would take advantage of that by using a stall deck seeing as everyone was going to take haymakers. The strategy is to get out Alakazam out by the third or fourth turn while mime and Dratini stall. Once kazam is out it's just a matter of stalling.

match 1 vs. Sponge deck
Man this guy got out mewtwo fully pumped by turn 2. He used an oak to get rid of the energy and absorbed it. So I brought in chansey. He wasnt to happy to see the big pink girl so he brought in his ditto. It took me a while but I got Alakazam out mid way through the game. He already had an advantage on me 4 prizes to 1 so I began to stall. Either the guy made a mistake or something but he oaked twice even though he knew I had a stall deck. Well I don't know what he was looking for but he didn't get it and 3 turns later he was decked out.
win 1-0

match 2 vs. Eevee fire/lightning
She had magmars and buzzes to protect her eevees. Man is smokescreen annoying or what! She kept smokescreening me until she powered up a flareon (J). I brought in chansey to soak up some damage until I got out Alakazam. Next turn I got him and double edged at her magmar and benched flareon for the win.
win 2-0

match 3 vs. Wigglytuff
Haha! Wiggly my archenemy. While he opened with a scyther active and a benched jigglypuff. I knew Wiggly was coming soon so I powered up chansey from my bench while another one stalled. Mid game he had me 5 prizes to none. I knew I was doomed so my last resort I searched for a Mime and placed him in against his wigglytuff. He put me to sleep but I kept waking up. Finally he had about 3 more cards. He gave up just to save face with his friends. He went on to tell them that he was bored thats why he let me win.
win 3-0

Final vs. Sponge
Oh man this was my worst luck. I got out a mime to his mewtwo. He went first and oaked then absorbed for a fully powered mewtwo. My turn and I drew nothing. This is my hand 5 psy energy, 1 alakazam and 2 kadabras. I attached an energy and did nothing. I thought I would be safe with mime out there. BAM out of no where he uses a goop gas and thats it for me.
loss 3-1

Well I didnt win but I didnt really care because I was happy of how well my new deck did.

Props to Pojos insight on erikas dratini because that card is really good against haymakers like you guys said
Slops for goop gas and the guy who quit in my 3rd match
