Well it’s been over a month since my progress in the Pokemon League. I promised myself that after I get all 8 badges, I would pursue to get a real Life and quit the league. Competition was ever increasing ever since my friends and I started playing in mid April. I had a Sponge variant deck, Han with his Potpourri deck, and Viam with his modified Cleaner deck.

My Deck: DeathScythe Hell Custom v3.9

Pokemon: 10

4x Mewtwo movie promo (Little Thieves!!! I only got 2 now!!!)

4x Electabuzz

2x Ditto

Trainers: 32

3x Bill
3x Oaks
3x Energy Removals
3x Super Energy Removals
3x Energy Retrievals
3x Scoop Ups
3x Item Finders
3x Gust of Wind
3x Plus Power
3x Computer Search
2x Lass
“Oh My Queeeeen!!! Your sooo Nauughty!!!” -Kintaro Oe
                                        ! ;     &n

Energy: 18

8x Psychic
7x Electric
3x Double Colorless

I replaced Mr. Mime and Mews with Dittos and full sets of Electabuzzes and Mewtwos. I usually beat evolutions decks before they can do anything most of the time. I decided that I needed Lass after all. I found myself constantly getting stalled by Scoop ups and Super Energy Removals. Also, there was one jerk that copied the exact sponge deck from Pojo, so I knew that I had to stick in Lass. Another stupid trick but I rarely go on defense to use it this way; Lass could be used to replenish your deck. I was going to use Nightly Garbage Run instead of Energy Retrieval but there were so many incidences that I needed energy right away. I can’t remember all the matches since I was able to play about 30 games that day. Trust me, Sponge decks are known for speed and I’ll just talk about the most memorable matches and not the preconstruct deck matches. I had to play with beginners since most of the good players came late.

Game 1

Deathscythe! VS.
Game 2

Deathscythe VS. Haymaker

AGE 15. His deck wasn’t really original. He had Scythers, Pinsers, Hitmonchans, and Himonlees. His deck was filled with potions and energy removals. This is the first time I met him, he said his deck could beat anyone’s deck. We played and on his opening hand he said that he was going to win and kick my ass. I let Mewtwo start off. I won the coin flip and I drew. I had the two energies and oak combo so I did it. I drew an awful hand and Oaked again. He then shouted and gave me a lecture on the deckout rule. I was laughing and drew a good hand finally. I laid out Ditto, Electabuzz, and another Mewtwo. I attached an energy and Absorbed. He turned pale when all he had was 2 scythers and a hitmonchan. He attached a grass energy and swordance. I energy removed it and I gusted in Hitmonchan and killed it. His scythers continued to s! wordanced but I would constantly energy removal them all. He stallPlus Power and a CPU search so I looked for the second Plus Power. The game was over after Mewtwo burned.

- Picked up a Computer Error for all those matches so far. Surprisingly it’s not really good. I guess there might be a use when Wizards ban Oak or something. Until that dark day comes, I’m sticking with Oak.

Game 4

Deathscythe VS. Colorless Deck

It was the same guy with the 3-evolution deck. He was still mad about that 1-minute game. He switched to a colorless deck just to beat me. I started off with Mewtwo while he had a Chansey. He had a Dratini on his bench. He won the flip again and attached an energy on his Dratini. I had a scoop up so I picked it up and let Electabuzz do his thing. I flipped heads and Paralyze. It was his turn and he stuck another energy on his Dratini. It was my turn and I was worried! about the Dratini. I gusted it up, Oaked, and got a plus power followed by a Lass. He had a Dark D complaining he had me and stuff. It was my turn and the game was pretty much over.
He demanded a rematch and the second match took longer. However, good-timed Lass screwed his early game again. I won again and he called me a cheater for getting Lass in all the games I played. I played ZAP decks that lasted longer then this.

Game 6

Deathscythe VS. Haymaker

AGE 15. The game was short again. I didn’t bother talking to him since he was so damn cocky. I took him down with Ditto/Plus Power/Double colorless against his himonchan and Himonlee. I drew a really unusual hand but I won with a single Ditto out. Most of the games were just too short like this since almost everyone plays Hitmonchan or fighting Pokemon in their decks.

- I remember that 20 minutes before the league ended, I met Bruce’s friend there. Bruce always constantly said his friend could beat me easily. Bruce also treats him like some god or something when it comes to the Pokemon TCG. I was eager to see just how good he was for myself.

Game 7

Deathscythe VS. PsyStall

AGE 14. I was really confident that I could beat hi! m since Psystall decks aren’t sucith Psyduck, Abra, and Cool Porygon out on the bench. I won the flip and got a lot of good cards. I attacked without Paralyze. It was his turn and he did a Double colorless again and fetched. It was my turn so I energy removed it right away. I attached another energy and Thunder punched but got tails. It was his turn and he attached a Double colorless on Cool Porygon. He passed. It was my turn and I drew a plus power. I played it and attached a Double colorless on Ditto. I thunder punch and got heads on Kanga. I drew my prize. He played Cool Porygon. On his turn he wasn’t able to get any energy but evolved his Abra into Dark kadabra. He also evolved his psyduck into Dark Golduck. It was my turn. I attached energy on Mewtwo and did thunderpunch again. Tails and it did 30. On his turn, he drew a bill and got some energy and attached it to his Cool Porygon and changes his resistance to electric and changed my weakness into Psy. On my turn, I attac! hed energy on Ditto and scooped up Electa. I brought out ditto andI looked at his hand, all he had was double colorless energy and tons of Pokemon centers and scoop ups. He was going to draw a chansey on his next turn following by another one.
It felt so good beating him far and square like that. When I looked at his deck, it wasn’t really that good after all. Sorry for all the typo, but I got some drawings to do after this ^_~!

Other notes at the League:

- Like last time, my friends and I agreed not to play each other in the league due to conflict of interest ^_~!
- The league was almost over but I noticed that Viam was playing for about 30 minutes against some other guy. Viam always kicks my Deck’s ass but I didn’t understand why it was taking him so long. The Gym leader was also watching it as well as Han. The game lasted another 10 minutes before it was all over. The other guy won using a Psystall deck. I couldn’t believe it until I looked at the other guy’s deck. He had 6 Double colorless energies in his deck!!! He had 75+ deck! Not only that, he used those cheap pennysleves!!! By using the pennysleves, it makes his deck smaller compared to our UltraPro sleeves. To compensate that, that guy added in another 10+ cards in his deck to give the illusion it was about 60 cards. If that guy was playing 60 cards, he would have deckout long time ago since both of them o! nly had like 3 cards left in thei

Props and Slops

Props to people who read Pojo magazine and their website. Pojo has the best staff on the Internet today!

Props to good players who don’t whine when they lose.

Props to Scott again on a good deck type

Slops to cheaters and people who pretend they don’t know the rules.

Slops to people who steal since someone stole 2 of my Mewtwo promos after the league was over -_-!
