I am Poison controller. I played in the Poke'mon League event at Books-A-Million on Broad Street in Richmond, Virginia. There were about 50 people playing today. As you can probably tell, my deck is a Grass/Fighting deck. Here it is:
16 Grass Energy
12 Fighting Energy
1 Hitmonchan(Base Set)
3 Ekans(Fossil)
2 Arbok(Fossil)
1 Blaine's Mankey(see translations at bottom of report)
2 Mankey(1 Jungle, 1 Team Rocket)
1 Primeape(Jungle)
1 Dark Primeape
3 Weedle(Base Set)
2 Kakuna(Base Set)
1 Beedrill(Base Set)
3 Nidoran Male(Base Set)
2 Nidorino(Base Set)
1 Nidoking(Base Set)
2 PlusPower
3 Gust of Wind
2 Switch
2 Gambler
The goal of Toxic Fighters is to leave your opponent begging for mercy with Poisoning techniques and sometimes other ailments and then unleash heavy damage-dishing attacks like Special Punch, Frenzied Attack, Tantrum,Thrash, Horn Drill, etc. Unfortunately, this deck did absolutely horrible and didn't achieve that goal. It won me 1 out of 5(!) rounds. Here's the report:
Round 1: My Toxic Fighters vs. ?'s Grass/Psychic Deck
This was the only round that I won. The boy had a Fossil Grimer and I had a Weedle active and a Weedle Benched. I started with Poison Sting, but was paralyzed twice by Grimer's Nasty Goo. Once I was down to 10HP, I used another Poison Sting but still couldn't Poison it. He KO'd Weedle with Nasty Goo. Next, out came an Ekans on my behalf. He'd used a Potion earlier on Grimer. I evolved Ekans to Arbok, attached a final energy and used Poison Fang( Finally I poisoned it.)He was about to use Nasty Goo but knew there was no way in heck he could win since I had him on the ropes. The kid thought it wasn't fair that the deck he'd been winning with all day could lose to a deck like mine, so he challenged me to a 2nd round. I accepted his challenge.
Round 2: My Toxic Fighters vs. ?'s Grass/Psychic(rematch)
I thought I'd win again since I won so easily the first time, but I thought wrong. All I had was an Ekans and two Weedles and he had a Venonat and two Scythers. I got the first move and used Spit Poison and successfully poisoned him. He used Stun Spore but didn't Paralyze me. I evolved Ekans into Arbok and used Terror Strike(big mistake). I flipped heads and he unleashed a Scyther and used Swords Dance(not good news for me). I used Poison Fang as a last ditch tactic.Scyther was poisoned but easily knocked Arbok out of the picture. Out came a Weedle. I used Poison Sting and Scyther retreated in order to use a Super Potion. Out came a new Scyther unable to use Swords Dance or Slash. I Poison Stung this Scyther until the boy used Scoop Up(Durn in all caps). He unleashed the Scyther he'd retreated and used Swords Dance. I Poison Stung it but to no avail. He Slashed me to death. I sent a new Weedle out this time using Poison Sting with a PlusPower(still didn't do it). So after Scyther Swords Danced, I Gust of Winded his ailing Venonat into action and beat it with a Poison Sting. Scyther slashed Weedle to death even after I Poison Stung it once. I unleashed a Primeape and used a G.O.W. to force his 2nd Venonat into action and used Tantrum(big mistake because I wound up confused afterwards). Next, he used Mewtwo(Movie Promo) and attacked with Energy Absorption. I used Tantrum once more but Mewtwo beat Primeape with Psyburn. I unleashed a Dark Primeape and used the Frenzy Power but to no avail, Mewtwo triumphed over Dark Primeape and won the game since I was out of Poke'mon. We decided to have a third round to see which of us was greater(sorta like a tiebreaker).
Round 3: My Toxic Fighters vs. ?'s Grass/Psychic(final round tiebreaker)
I once again lost miserably with only a couple Ekans, and a couple Weedle. I unleashed a Spit Poison but even so, I was defeated easily by his Scyther. I used a Weedle next. After Scyther KO'd it, I unleashed a Primeape. I G.O.W.'d Venonat in and Fury Swipesed it to death. He unleashed his Scyther next and beat Primeape with the help of a Super Energy Removal no problem. I sent Beedrill out in hopes to Twineedle Scyther to death but with the help of an Energy Removal, he beat Beedrill down. He was indeed the tougher of me and him.
Round 4: My Toxic Fighters vs. Chris' Imitation Raindance
I was beaten to a pulp no problem this round. All I had was a Weedle and he had 2 Magikarp(Team Rocket). I beat up his 1st Magikarp with a Poison Sting in three turns. Unfortunately, he used the 2nd Magikarp's Rapid Evolution and attached a Gyarados(Base Set,Yikes!) to Magikarp. I G.O.W.'d it to the Bench and brought out a Lapras(Fossil). After 2 turns, he retreated Lapras and Dragon-Raged me to defeat. He decided since this was such a short match, we should have another.
Round 5: My Toxic Fighters vs. Chris' Imitation Raindance(rematch)
He had a fossil Lapras and I had a Weedle and a Mankey. Both were easily defeated by Lapras' Water Gun no matter how many times I Poison Stung it or Scratched it. In 5 minutes, the match was over.

After realizing it needed immediate improvement, I disassembled the deck at home and rebuilt it with better Poke'mon lines, trainers, etc. If you have any suggestions on what the new deck should be like, I'm open for suggestions. I'll revise it again. I can be e-mailed at keane.fam@rcn.com. I'll send another report on the revised version of the deck whenever I use it in tournament play again. Until then, see ya later. Please post this!!!!!!!!
