Tourney: Borders - Glendale, CA 3:00-5:00 PM

Here's my deck:

Thunderblast:

Pkmn (18)
2 Jungle Pikachu-bench hitter and good in all electric
2 MP Pikachu-3rd turn thunder, 2nd turn agility...
2 Raichu-great HP, retreat, and excellent attacks
1 Dark Raichu-good for getting those 70 HP pokes...
3 TR Voltorb-speed ball vs. tackle...hmm
2 Base Electrode-when was 80 HP and 50 damage bad?
1 Zapdos-pure power and a good wall w/resistance
2 Electabuzz-no comment
3 Scyther-gives a good edge against fighting pokes...

Trainers (22)
3 Computer Search-lets not go into this :)
2 Item Finder-you might need those pluspowers again
3 Pluspower-turn 60 into 70, and 50 into 70 w/2...
2 Super Potion-keep those evolutions alive longer
2 Energy Retrieval-stop those pesky ER and SERs
2 Gust of Wind-destroy their blastoise and weaklings
2 Professor Oak-discard hand, draw 7... HMMMM...
4 Bill-Draw 2? Anytime!
1 Lass-Mess up Raindance, Haymaker, Wigglys, etc.
1 Rocket's Sneak Attack-more specific Lass

Energy (20)
2 Double Colorless-Scyther and for retreating
1 Full Heal NRG-multipurpose
1 Potion NRG-that last turn pluspower did nothing...
16 Electric-what type of NRG did you expect???

Strategy:
Use Scyther and Electabuzz for early beatdown, and
have voltorb and pikachu as backup for evolution.
Fight with the 2 killer basics until you have an
electrode, raichu, or zapdos ready, then release their
awesome powers onto the enemy, add +powers if
necessary, and decimate the opposition. Only real
problem seems to be w/Hitmonchan Mewtwo Haymakers.

On to the battles...

Round 1 vs. Hagop with Fire/Electric haymaker
Simple: he put out magmars right after each other, but
for some reason he never got the right NRG and my
voltorbs and soon electrode took them down, along with
a pumped up raichu and a couple of +powers.
Win-Loss:
1-0

Round 2 vs. Brian with all Grass Haymaker (arrg...)
His scythers and my electabuzzes exchanged kos until i
got a raichu powered, and from there all it faced was
pinsirs... pretty easy w/the superpotions. Only
problem was Super Energy Removal.
2-0

Round 3 vs. Alex with Fighting/Wigglytuff deck
This battle was over before it started. My first hand
was all pikachu and voltorbs, his ended up
w/wigglytuff and a full bench. My pokemon couldnt stop
the 60 damage onslaught...
2-1

Round 4 vs. Steve with modified Sponge
I must say I really hate Promo Mewtwos, but this time
my Electabuzz paralyzed it 3 times in a row, followed
by a thunderpunch w/+power and it was over. His dittos
were no match for the zapdos i killed them with. easy
60 and gust :)
3-1

Round 5 vs. Alex (different Alex) with Fire deck
Wow running 2-1 evolutions in that deck was a BIG
mistake, along with having ERs and SERs in a Fire deck
w/o retrievals... he practically wasted himself! Let's
also just say that my Raichus dominated his Charizard
and Dark Charizards...
4-1

Thats the end of it...
