Well, same week, another tournament at Best Comics.I played a deck that my
on-line friend Addagett sent me. I named it after him, because only he knows
the true name of the deck:
[Unable to display image]

Pokemon 16
3 Evee[Unable to display image]
3 Electabuzz[Unable to display image]
2 Jolteon[Unable to display image]
2 Moltres[Unable to display image]
1 Flareon[Unable to display image]
2 Charmander[Unable to display image]
1 Charmeleon[Unable to display image]
2 Fossil Magmar[Unable to display image]

Energy 24
10 Electric Energy
14 Fire Energy

Trainers 20
2 Potion
2 ER
2 SER
3 PlusPower
2 Super Potion
2 Fuji
2 Scoop Up
2 Computer Search
2 Gust of Wind

This deck played pretty well, considering I didn't make it and didn't know to
much strategy to use with it. It worked well against RainDance, as Pin
Missiles flew and Thunder Punch reigned, while against Haymakers, Magmar
slowed'em and stalled'em whil Flareon, Jolteon and Moltres powered up to do
their stuff.

Strategies for decks:

Raindance: Use Electabuzz to start and power up Jolteon. If a Squirtle is
ever seen, Gust it out for Electabuzz to kill. Also, if you power up a
Flareon, he can be pretty devasting to an unpowered Dewgong, Gyarados or
Poliwrath. Weakness won't help be a problem if they can't attack.

Stall: I've been using this deck so long, I know how to beat it; Gust of
Wind. If they use Clefairy Doll, Gust out Chansey, Moltres or anyone else who
you want, especially those with high retreat. Use PlusPower to kill Chansey
faster, or use Flareon's Flamethrower attack twice. If you see MewTwo, make
sure you have a Jolteon, Moltres or Flareon and an ER or two. It's their one
real weakness:-).

Haymaker: Same way that they would play you, but with a twist. Go with
Electabuzz and Magmar to start, maybe Charmander if you're playing a Scyther.
Once you have Jolteon, Moltres or Flareon though, use'em all you can.
Remember, Charmeleon can also be devastating, but these three are just
amazing. Most basics just cannot deal with 60 to 80 HP attacks, making these
three all but unstoppable against Haymakers. Remember to overpower them (add
extra energy to your pokemon) because Haymaker's live on ER's and SER's.

Damage Swap: Simple strategy: kill Gengar. A Gust of Wind makes him a sitting
duck for Divebomb, Pin Missile or a pair of Flamethrowers. Just kill them as
they come on the bench, and then pick of the rest of they Pokemon at your
leasure.

Anyway, enough with the strategy, my favorite part of the game, on to the
matches. As usual, it was single elimination, with 8 people staying for this
tournament. The winner recieved 3 Basic Packs, 1 First Editio (I don't know
where they got it from) Here's the results:

Match 1: Michael Simons with Raindance
I used the afforementioned strategy to win, using to Electabuzzes to kill
three Squirtles early on, meaning no Raindance Power today. From their, Pin
Missiles flew, Bombs Dove and Flames Threw me to victory, with Charmeleon
getting the final kill. Not bad for the deck.
WIN 1-0

Match 2: David Andrew with Raindance
I've played him before, and this time he had 3 Blastoise, but two were prizes
and one was on the bottom of his deck. Magmar and Electabuzz killed his only
three basics for the no-basic win.
WIN 2-0

Match 3: Gabe Strauss with Haymaker
I used Magmar for Scyther, Electabuzz for Magmar, and when all else failed,
Moltres and Jolteon used their devastating attacks to kill the basics. It was
close, with to prizes left, but I sacrificed a Charmeleon to power up
Flareon, and Flamethrower killed his original Magmar and a Gust of Winded
Scyther for the win.
WIN 3-0

Match 4: Finals with David Strauss and his Stall Deck
The owner had to close, so we played a three prize game, winner takes all. I
got a great hand, 2 Electabuzz, 1 Evee, 1 Jolteon, 2 Electric Energy, 1
PlusPower. Him, a pair of Mr. Mimes and a Ghastly (Basic, I don't know why).
I go first, draw gust, kill Ghastly by turn 3. It's downhill for him from
their, as his Invisible Wall won't stop me. I lose an Electabuzz, but I've
powered up my Jolteon, so I decide to Pin Missile for fun, get 1 heads out of
4 on two turns(finally), and win.
WIN 4-0

I got a 1st Edition Blastoise, another Nidoking and a Magneton and Alakazam.
Not bad. I like this deck, and I just might use it again. Thanx, Daggett. If
you decide to use it, good luck.

Now, it's time for the best part of the report, Props and Slops..........
Props....................
To all of the Original Decks and Deck-Builders out there, you know who you
are.
To me for winning. (Hey, I don't win that much anymore, I take what I can :-))
To Pojo, for having such a great Web-Page, the best one out there by far.
To everyone who contributes a deck to Pojo. I love reading them.
To my opponents, for being good losers :-).

Slops......................
To all of the unoriginal Decks and Deck-Builders out there, you know my story.
To me, for not winning in so long before this besides last week.
To WOTC, for making the right cards for a Haymaker and Raindance deck.

That's all for now. Good luck in all of the tournaments any of you play in.
