Hey Pojo, can you please post this deck under "Killer Deck Reports"? Thanks!

Name: Max Bitter
Deck: Ghost Tuff
Date: 1/29/00
Location: Leominster, MA
Store: Toys 'R' Us - Searstown Mall
Tournament Style: Pokemon TCG League Event
Approx. # of People: 25 to 30

Hey, fellow Pokemaniacs! I've got another report from the Toys 'R' Us at
Searstown Mall here in Leominster, MA. It's another Pokemon League
competition. And boy, was it crowded! Saturdays are always like this. There
were almost 30 people there to trade and (more importantly) play. I'm more
than halfway to getting the Thunder Badge, and they haven't even got them in
yet! Anyway, I've been experimenting since Masters of Poison and I've come up
with a deck that has only been beaten twice. The deck is called Ghost Tuff,
and here are the contents, along with reasons why each card is here:

                   GHOST TUFF, version 1.0
Pokemon: 25
4x Fossil Gastly (Good attack, no weakness, resistance to fighting)
3x Fossil Haunter (Nice Power, same attributes as F. Gastly, cool attack)
3x Gengar (Awesome power, low retreat, ghost attributes, bench destruction)
4x Mr. Mime (The BEST Power, low retreat, attack that builds up over time)
4x Jynx (Great HP, decent first attack, second attack can be deadly)
3x Jigglypuff (Resistant to other Psychics, decent HP and attacks)
2x Wigglytuff (Full bench = death to many opponents, good HP, uses DCE)
2x Ditto (You have a Charizard/Blastoise/etc.? Now I do too! Also uses DCE)

Trainers: 14
3x Bill (Very useful in many situations, only 3 used to make room for other
stuff)
2x Professor Oak (Great if it's the last card in your hand!)
3x Energy Removal (Stops Scyther and other energy-hungry creatures)
2x Super Energy Removal (Take out two energy for the price of one!)
2x Computer Search (Need a specific card? Use this!)
2x Gust of Wind (Get those high-retreat Golems and Kangaskhans out and KO 'em)

Energy: 21
20x Psychic Energy (Duh....)
1x Double Colorless Energy (It can speed up Wigglytuff's attack)

The main strategy of the deck is to get Gengar to Dark Mind damage onto
benched Pokemon, then Curse it to the active Pokemon and have Jynx or Mime
ready to Meditate. You can even take out Colorless Pokemon with Meditate if
you can Curse 30 damage to them. The Dittos and Wigglytuffs will take care of
the problem that will arise when Gengar isn't out or if Curse won't help you
(example: you've got Gastly out, with a Gengar and a charged up Ditto
benched, and your opponent has a heavily damaged Kangaskhan out and no
bench....) Anyway, here's the report!

Game 1: Vs. ??? w/Ghost Deck
Back Story: I've seen this kid before. He's a year older than me but he likes
playing against me. He knows my name, but I don't know his. He's actually
seen my Masters of Poison report and he mentioned that a few times. Anyway,
after getting to the League a half hour late, he sees me and challenges me to
a match. I accept.
The Match: Unlike Masters of Poison, I didn't keep a record of every detail
of every match, so this will be a sketchy recollection. Anyway, I started
with Gastly out and Mime benched. I had Haunter, Compy Search, and three Psy
energy in my hand. He started the same way, but with no Mime. (Both Gastlys
were Fossil.) I went first and ended up with Wigglytuff. I Comp. Searched
Wiggly and an energy for Gengar, and licked. Heads. He goes about his turn,
adding another Gastly to the bench. He licks with no Paralyze. We go back and
forth and I eventually end up with Gengar and Wigglytuff, along with a few
Jynx, Haunter and Ditto. Gengar mows through his Gastly and along with Curse,
Jynx cleans up the rest (mainly a few more Gastlys, a Kadabra, a Mew, and
some Abras). I win with him still needing 4 prizes.

Today's Record: 1 win, 0 losses
Total Deck Record: 7 wins, 0 losses

Game 2: Rematch - ??? with Rain Dance
Back Story: After crushing him, the kid asked me to battle his other deck.
It's a rain dance. Go figure.
The Match: Thank God. I got Mr. Mime in my opening hand, as well as the
entire ghost line and the rest energies. (Note: I didn't see my single DCE in
a single match today! Oh well.) He starts with a lone Squirtle. I open with
Gastly and we paralyze back and forth (I decide to charge up Mime on the
bench instead of evolving and using Nightmare.) Eventually he gets an Oak. He
grins when he gets out Blastoise and puts down three Articuno on the bench.
But after killing one Gengar (I got another one out), my Mime stalls him out.
By the time I finally get the second Psy energy I needed, he gets out my
worst nightmare: Lapras. After Lapras kills my Mime, his fully charged
Articunos and Blastoise proceed to kill my Jynxes and ghosts.

Today's Record: 1 win, 1 loss
Total Deck Record: 7 wins, 1 loss

Game 3: Vs. Ben Krupa w/Venomoth Haymaker (?)
Back Story: Since my Masters of Poison report, Ben's been experimenting with
a new Grass/Psychic/Fighting deck. The grass element features Scyther and
Venomoth, while the Fighting side features Hitmonchan. Finally, the Psychic
side features the ghost line. This should be interesting.
The Match: I get out a Fossil Gastly, a Jynx, and a Mime. He gets a pair of
Venonats. It seems like I was going to win. But to cut a long story (or game)
short, he eventually ends up winning. I don't remember every detail, but I do
remember that he was using a combo of Hitmonchan, Gengar, and Venomoth to do
the heavy damage. Oh well.

Today's Record: 1 win, 2 losses
Total Deck Record: 7 wins, 2 losses

Game 4: Rematch with Ben
Back Story: Simple. I challenged Ben to a rematch, and he accepted.
The Match: After the horrible beatdown I suffered last game, this was
seriously the easiest game I've ever won. This was the biggest win I'd ever
seen. I mean...errr, sorry, I got carried away there. Anyway, I had Gastly
out, Gastly benched, Haunter, Gengar, and the rest Psychic energy in my hand.
He had a lone Hitmonchan out, no other basics. Guess who won.

Today's Record: 2 wins, 2 losses
Total Deck Record: 8 wins, 2 losses

Game 5: Vs. ??? w/Rainbow Deck
Back Story: Wow, what a showoff. He boasts about having a first edition
Blastoise, but he had it in his deck (heh heh heh) and it's a seriously
scratched up card. You can barely tell what it is, but if you look hard, you
can make out the 1st Ed symbol behind the huge silver foil that covers the
card. Anyway, I met this kid last week and taught him how to play. He thought
prizes were the cards you have that your opponent gets for winning! He
brought his rainbow deck in today, thinking that a good deck, like a good GB
team, has a wide range of types. A little too large, though- he has every
type in his deck, plus no trainers! He thinks he can beat me again (he though
he beat me last time- I lost because I decked myself).
The Match: Before we began, his friend came over with a monster pile of cards
he thought was a deck. My challenger's friend had a rainbow deck too, and
when I asked him what he was carrying, he said, "My deck, duh! I've got 400
cards in it!" Playing along, I asked how many energy he had. "Uhhh...about 40
of each, I think, and 20 colorless..." After I fell over laughing, I started
my match with my challenger. :) Anyway, I was in a bad position. I had a
Gastly, Haunter, Jynx, two Mime, a Wigglytuff, and one single Psychic energy.
I started with Gastly. He starts with.....Kangaskhan! :-(   To make matters
worse, I didn't get too much energy until halfway into the game...in fact, I
didn't get ANY energy until then! But to cut this one short again, I managed
to get out two Gengars, and I Cursed and Dark Minded until I got 30 damage on
Kangaskhan. Then I had Mime take care of business. Kangy had 10 HP left, but
his luck with Comet Punch nearly killed Mime. I wanted to save him, so I
retreated for my charged-up Wigglytuff. Since I got so many Pokemon in my
hand (remember; not many energy; barely enough for three Pokemon) Wigglytuff
cleared it away...until he sent out his own Mr. Mime! I came close to keeping
it asleep long enough to kill it, but he kept waking up. Suddenly, our Gym
Leaders said, "Time's up! Whoever picked up the most prizes won!" I had 4
left to draw, he had 6, so I was considered the winner!

Today's Total Record: 3 wins, 2 losses
Total Deck Record: 9 wins, 2 losses

Well, that was fun. I didn't win anything except my fifth Mew (for 300
points). My sister bought a Fossil pack, but she got non-holo Ditto so I
decided not to buy a booster for myself. Then, Ben and my friend Jamison (who
was playing beside me the whole day) wanted to come over to play Mario Party
2! So the day ended with our very own little Mario party. Anyway, here's the
props 'n' slops:

Props to Toys 'R' Us for holding the League every weekend!
Props to Jamison for renting Mario Party 2 for our party!
Props to that 400-card deck kid for making me laugh!
Props to the two-hour time limit on the League which won me the last game!
Props to the Pojo for posting this report! :)

Slops to my dad for bringing me there 1/2 hour late!
Slops to the kid with the Rain Dance for ruining my deck's record!
Slops to that Double Colorless for not showing up in a single game today!
Slops to Wizards of the Coast for not making a Double Psychic Energy card! ;-)

Well, that wraps it up. Tomorrow, I'll send in day 2 of this report for
Sunday's League. 'Till then, I'll be mysteriously disappearing like Gastly.
Bye!
