Hello pojo! This deck did very well and earned 2nd place at a tournament
held on the 26th of Febuary at Northwest Classic Cards and Comics.  It's a
sponge varient, and is famous for very quick wins.

Allright!

About 11 people showed up overall. Winners play winners, losers play
losers, and so on as it extends into brackets. After playtesting my deck
about 7 times today with Nick, I was ready for anything any trainer might
throw at me.

Round 1 - Psy Sponge against a Raticate deck

The deck was poorly built. It focused around having Raticate do Hyper Fang,
then bite, bite, and bite. For my hand I drew Mewtwo, 2 psychic energys,
Electabuzz, scoopup, electric energy and a lass. I put Mewtwo as active and
electabuzz on the bench.

Flip a coin... Heads! I go first. He flips over machop as his active and
rattata on his bench

I scoopup electabuzz and put him back down for fun and oak. I billed a few
times, attached an energy to Mewtwo and energy absorbed. He attached energy
to machop and did lowkick. I draw, and then psyburn Machop for a prize. He
brought out rattata, drew, then attached an energy and did bite. I attached
a pluspower to Mewtwo, and then CPU searched for another one, and Psyburned
him for the win.

1-0

Round Two - Psy Sponge vs. Ghostly Wiggly deck

The owner of this deck was a Pojo Addict as well, and before the round
began we talked at length about Spike and his Vulpix. :)

I feared that I was weak to his ghosts, and his wigglys and jigglys were
resistent to my psychic attacks. I start out with a mewtwo, 3 psychic
energys, computer search, gambler, and a plus power. He starts out with f.
gastly as active and wiggly on the bench.

I go first. I draw, lass... I play computer search, discarding to psychic
energies. find an oak, attach energy to Mewtwo and energy absorb. He then
lays energy on gastly, evolves to haunter, places another gastly on his
bench and then passes. I draw an electabuzz, put it down with a lightning
energy and put a plus power on Mewtwo. I attempt to psyburn, transparency
fails and I draw a prize. He brings out jiggly puff, lays down an energy,
evolves his benched gastly to haunter,  and sings. I flip and wake up. A
take off Jiggly's energy, attach another energy to electabuzz, retreat
Mewtwo and then promote electabuzz, Thunderpunch, tails. 30 damage to
jiggly, 10 to electabuzz. He then procedes to laydown an abra(!) and a
psychic energy on it. He then evolves Haunter to Gengar and moves the
damage from electabuzz to Mewtwo, gusts Mewtwo in,
and says, 'Go'. I retort by gusting in Abra, and KO it.  He brings Jiggly
back in front, and passes. I then search/item finder for pluspowers, and KO
jiggly. He then repeatedly throws WBP at me, which Mewtwo made quick work of.

2-0

Finals - Psy Sponge vs. Swinging Ninetails

I feared this would happen. Last, deciding game was against my friend, Nick
Bergez. He had fought hard to get to the finals, in his two games, his fire
deck triumphed over two water decks. And we were now ready for the Clash of
the Titans

We shuffle and draw, I start with a mewtwo, electabuzz, some energy, and an
oak. Flip... he goes first. He lays down dratini as his active and a vulpix
on the bench. Mewtwo is my active. He starts building up vulpixes on his
bench as he draws them and I start building up my bench as well. Finally,
it gets to the point where we have each have a fully built up bench. He
brings out a pumped up Ninetails and I retaliate with Mr. Mime. He retreats
ninetails and brings out dratini. I scoopup Mime, bring out Mewtwo, super
energy removal ninetails and ko Dratini with some pluspowers. He brings out
ninetails and a big item findering/gust of wind/energy removal/retreating
battle begins. The game was so intense we actually began to draw an
audience. Finally, in a desperation attempt, I item findered my Mime away
to find a Super Energy Removal. After he stalls with Magmar a bit, I KO it,
he brings out Ninetails and KOs my, I lose with no basic Pokemon left on my
bench.

....

All in all, I came in 2nd :) I won a promo ivy pikachu, a booster of base
set and a base set two booster. I pulled imposter oak and venemoth :P. But
at least I get the recognition :)

Props to Scott G. for creating the sponge!

Props to NW Cards and Comics for the awesome tourny

setting me back in my place :)

Props to the rest of the Columbia Basin Gym, Alex, Eric, Karen  Jubal, and
Chris, for the moral support. :) Wish you guys could have come!

Props to the ebay sellers without whom I would have neither my Mewtwos, nor
my Electabuzzes.

-Slops-

Slops to everyone who said they would crush my deck. :)
Slops to Nick for beating me. Augh :) My poor self esteem!

Time to wring out the Sponge and set it on its hook until my next match.
