Psyshock

Hi everyone.  This week, like promised, I'm sending in my Psyshock deck.
It's basically a Sponge Variant, but I swear I invented this before I read
Scott's deck.  I'll give him props, anyway.  So, here's the deck:

The Deck:
4 Movie Promo Mewtwo (one of the most broken cards in gameplay!)
4 Electabuzzes (same as Chan, but can paralyze!!)
2 Scythers (No room for 4, but still have the great Farfetch'd play)
2 Mr. Mime (Good against Chanseys, Charizards, etc.)
4 Bill (they're Bill for crying out loud!)
4 Super Energy Removal (More effective than ER!)
3 Professor Oak (Same as Bill)
2 Scoop Up (I needed to add something like Potion, this did the job)
3 Gust of Wind (Very useful)
4 Computer Search (Used with Mewtwo's Energy Absorption, it can be awesome)
3 Plus Power (Never know how good 10 damage can make you!)
1 Item Finder (I need those crucial Bills!)
2 Energy Retrieval (Low Energy? Not anymore!)
11 Psychic Energy
9 Electric Energy
2 Double Colorless

This is my first tourney with this deck, so I need to improve it next time.

OK, now you've got the deck, time for the report:

Pokémon League
Borders South in Tulsa
2/17/00
4:00 PM
22 People

I got there on time (surprise) and at once went to battle someone.  I saw Al,
and he wanted to battle.

Round One:
Al with Rain Dance

I sent out Electabuzz, and he sent out Magikarp.  He went first,  and he
couldn't do anything.  I Thundershocked for 20, he evolves to Gyarados.  I
eventually kill Gyarados and he forfeits.

WIN

Record: 1-0

Round Two:
Al with Rain Dance (again)

I start by sending out Mewtwo, and he sends out Lapras.  Lapras Water Guns
for 10.  I Computer Search, discarding two Psychic energy, attach at Psychic
energy and do Energy Absorption.  Lapras does Water Gun for 20.  I attach 2
Plus Powers and Psyburn for 60.  He Water Guns for 30.  I Psyburn for the
kill.  He loses because he has no basics.

WIN

Record: 2-0

Round Three:
John with Fire/Electric

I start out with Electabuzz, he has a Dratini.  I go first, Thundershock, and
he's paralyzed.  He has no energy, so I attach a Psychic and Thunder punch,
killing Dratini, with 10 to Electabuzz.  He sends out Kangashkan, I Gust of
Wind out Eevee, Thunderpunch for 30, 10 to Electabuzz.  He retreats Eevee and
sends out Kangashkan.  I Thunderpunch for 40, he Fetches.  I Thunderpunch for
40 again, and he Fetches.  I kill him with Thunderpunch, 10 to me.  He sends
out Base Magmar, and can't go (no energy).  I Scoop Up Electabuzz and send
out Mewtwo, wh has 3 Psychic energy on him, and Psyburn for 40.  Magmar has
no energy, so I Psyburn for the kill.  He sends out a Dragonair with 3 energy
and Slams for nothing.  I retreat Mewtwo and send out Electabuzz.  I
Thundershock for 10, with paralyzing.  He Potions, I SER Dragonair, and
Thundershock for 10 more without paralyze.  He slams for 30, I Thunderpunch
for 40. He kills my Electabuzz, and I send out another one.  I Thundershock
with paralyze.  He potions.  I Thunderpunch for 40, killing him.  He sends
out Charmander and Scratches.  I Thunderpunch for 30 to him, 10 to me.  He
Scratches for 10, I Thunderpunch for the kill.  He sends out Pokemon League
Pikachu, and can't attack.  I gust out Eevee and kill it, drawing my last
prize.

WIN

Record: 3-0

Round Four:
Ryan with Mono-Grass

I send out Scyther, he sends out Chansey.  I attach a DBC, he attaches a
Grass.  I attach a Electric and a Plus Power to Slash for 40.  He attaches
another Grass, Scrunches, but fails.  I Slash for 30 and he forfeits.

WIN

Record: 4-0

Round Five:
Cheater with Rain Dance

I don't know what happened.  He was ahead early in the game, his for Chanseys
that he placed at the top of his deck had a clear advantage against my early
Mewtwos.  His friends kept telling him what to do, and I ended up with three
cards left in my deck, and he had five. I Computer Search, looking for a
energy for my Electabuzz, and there is none. I forfeit.

LOSS

Record: 4-1

I think this deck actually did pretty good.  Resistance definately hurt me
though.  I need to add some Fighting Pokemon.

Time for Props and Slops!

Props:

Props, once again, to Rebecca for being an awesome Gym Leader.
Props to Scott for inventing the Sponge.
Props to everyone for being great opponents
Props to Borders for hosting the league.

Slops:

Slops to the cheater who placed his Chanseys on the top of his deck.

Thanks,
Talon
