Hey yo, Pojo and friends. I attended a Pokemon League Event at Toys 'R
Us in Chesterfield, MO, on Saturday, February 26, 2000.
Believe it or not, the competition at this Toys 'R Us was pretty good,
and I got my first loss today. My deck is a Haymaker, and it's 59-1 as
of today.

Game 1: Pokemon Freak Wants to Fight!
This kid was using a mono-fire deck. He was a really big dork, but at
least he was a good sport and a nice guy. He was obsessed with playing
a lot of games and winning a Boulder Badge. He told me that he thought
a person with badges was a good player, but I told him it just
meant you came to the League a lot. Anyway, I know to keep Scyther on
the bench and let my Electabuzz and Hitmonchan do the work. I start
with Electabuzz and a Hitmonchan on the bench, him with a Fossil Magmar and
Blaine's Growlithe on his bench. He assures me that he has a Scrye
Magazine to translate his Japanese cards. I cringe, knowing
Pojo was a lot better, but then just think that this gives me a better
reason to whoop him. I go first, put an energy on the Big Bad
Buzz and shock him for 10. I flip tails, no paralyze, and it's
his turn. He puts an energy on Magmar, and Smokescreens me for 10.
I put another energy on Buzz, and punch him, flip heads, flip heads again
and I do 40. He starts building that Growlithe, and it becomes
Blaine's Arcanine. *Dum dum dum* I laugh, as I have 2 SER in
my hand and energy all over. I get my Chan Man built, and zap his
energy away. He leads out with his stupid Arcanine after Magmar falls.
He manages to get 3 on his Arcanine to do heat tackle 40 to me, and 10 to
himself. Poor Electabuzz is a goner. Out comes the Chan Man,
S-Punch him and K him O for another prize. After a few turns
of SER-ing him, I get my Hitmonlee powered. He has Ninetails
out with not a drop of energy to be seen, but Chan Man gets
himself KO'd, so I let Hitmonlee go to work. His Ninetails is
taken down fast. Left on his bench is an American Arcanine and he has
no energies to power him up. His head droops as I beat his
Arcanine to a bloody pulp with Hitmonlee and win the match.

Game 2: Little Blonde Boy Wants to Fight!
Oh good lord, what a whoopin' this kid got. He was a shy, quiet boy,
and I felt kinda bad about it, but hey, a win's a win. I think he was
using a sort of Raindance deck, but he only had 1 Blastoise. He starts
with Squirtle with Magi(KRAP) on his bench. I start with Scyther and
my Hitmonlee on my bench. I lay a Lightning Energy and send him on his
way. He draws, frowns, and does nothing. I don't think he had
many trainers. It was my turn again, attach the Double Colorless, add
a Plus Power, and beat out his Squirtle. Out comes Krap with Fins.
He draws and does nothing, again. I slash his Krap and I win.
Poor kid. I look through his deck afterwards and help him with it.
He had nothing but water Pokemon (Goldeen and Seaking? In a Raindance?
EWWWW) and but a few Water Energy. Took me a while, but I got him set
straight.

I sat and traded a while, battled the Gym Leader, Mason, on Pokemon Gameboy
(WON of course) and then got back into the action.
Game 3: Redneck Who Can't Tie His Shoes Wants to Fight!
Oh my god, I almost busted a gut fighting his kid. He was about my
age, maybe a bit older (13-14) and was a big fat redneck. He had
velcro shoes on! What a retard! AND he kept dissin' me 'cause I: 1:
Beat his @$$ last week. 2: Wouldn't trade my Charizard (I hate it, but
I'm gonna' sell it). So, he talked a lot of smack. I decided to
Layeth the Smacketh Down on his Roody Poo Candy @$$, so he'd smell what the
Fist is cookin. (Mason the Leader told me to, he kept buggin' him to
give him Mews). I start with Hitmonchan, with Hitmonlee and Scyther on
my bench. He starts with Snorlax and Dratini on the bench. He
goes first, lays a DCE on Dratini, evolves to Dragonair, evolves to
Dragonite, uses Energy Search for a DCE, attaches it to Dragonite, picks up
Snorlax and puts him in his hand, and Slams me. UM...now, let's see
what he did illegally: 1: Cannot evolve on 1st turn 2: Can't evolve
the same Pokemon twice in 1 turn 3: Cannot use Energy Search for DCE 4:
Cannot put 2 energy down in 1 turn 5: Cannot Scoop Up Pokemon
without SCOOP UP!!! Mason set him straight, and the kid got pissed and
forfieted, claiming I cheated. He then started cussing and carrying on
and making fun of small children until Mason had him ejected.
WIN (LOL) 3-0 (Hate wins like that)
Game 4: Redhead Fire Boy Wants to Fight!
This guy was cool. He was funny and had a head of thick red hair.
He used a Mono-Fire with Charizard in it. (Ooh I'm scared now,
heh heh heh). I start with Hitman-Chan with Buzz on the Bench, him
with Charmander starting, and Vulpix on bench. I go first, put down an
energy and Jab the Charmander. He says somthing under his
breath, puts an energy on Vulpix and says go. I give him the People's
Eyebrow, and he starts being cool. I draw Hitman-Lee, and put an
Energy on it. I put a Plus Power on Chan-Man, Jab the Lizard and
K-Him-O. Out comes Vul-Prick. He lays Magmar on his bench.
He lays an Energy on Vulpix, Evolves to Ninetails, Lures out Hitmonlee.
I put an Energy on Lee, and Stretch Kick his Magmar. He lays an energy
on Ninetails, grins devilishly, and ends his turn. I draw a Super
Energy Removal, grin devilishly right back at him, and zap off 2 energy from
Ninetails. He curses and discards 2 energy. I lay an energy on
Lee and High Jump Kick him. His turn. He lays an energy on
Magmar and says go. I draw, SER the Tails, and Stretch Kick the
Magmar. He lays another energy on his Magmar, and I SER it and Stretch
kick it. He gets pissed now, lays an energy on Ninetails. I am
in total control and Stretch kick Magmar for the KO. He lays an energy
on Tails and lures out Electabuzz. I scoop up Buzz, send out Lee, and
Rock his world. Game.
WIN 4-0
Game 5: Jessie the Cashier Wants to Fight!
Jessie was another Gym Leader, but he was working the cash register.
He got some girl to fill in for him and fought me. It was tough.
He was using a Raindance deck, and so I knew to keep Scyther and Electabuzz
in. I went first with Electabuzz and Hitman-Chan on the bench, him
with Lapras and Squirtle on the bench. I gusted out his Squirtle,
layed a Lightning energy on Buzz, played a Plus Power, Comp Searched for
another, and layed it down. KO the Squirtle. Now I don't have to
worry 'bout the big Tortoise for now. Out comes Lapras. He lays
down an Articuno on the bench, and lays a water energy on it. OK, my
turn. I put an Energy on Buzz, T-Punch him...heads I KO the
Lapras...TAILS! Argh, so the Lapras now has 60 Damage on it and I with 10 on
my Buzz. He goes, lays a water energy on Cuno, Prof Oaks, Lays a
Squirtle...uh oh...then Comp Searches for Tortoise! Uses Breeder!
UH OH! Scoops up Lapras, sends out Cuno with 4 Energy and does
Blizzard!! Really Really Big Uh Oh!!! Now Buzz has 60 Damage on
it, but he flips tails and his bench gets 10 damage. Well, now my
turn. I begin to power up Buzz 2. I Prof Oak and get some more
Lightning N-R-G, 2 SER, a Plus Power, and a DCE. whoo hoo. I SER
his Cuno 2wice and then T-Punch him 40. Yeah baby! He goes, and
can't get any energy. He has but 1 energy, which he lays on Tortoise.
My turn, add another energy to Buzz 2, which is now fully powered, and
T-Punch his Cuno for another 30 and a KO...but I flip Tails and KO my buzz,
too. Out comes Big Tortoise VS Buzz Man. He draws, Oaks, and
lays Shi-loads of Water Energy all over. 60 to Buzz! Erck!
I go, put a DCE on Scyther, and Punch him for the KO (Weakness, heads and a
Plus Power) because of Articuno's Blizzard baby! Now left is his fully
powered Lapras. It KOs my Buzz, and all I got left was Scyther.
I go...and Oak. I get no basics! Just N-R-G...so I attach one to
Scyther and Slash him. He goes, Water Gun, 30. I
draw...and...BILL! I do it and...Hitmonchan!! I put an Energy on it,
Slash. He goes and Water Guns + Plus Power and KO's poor Scyther.
Out come the Chan-Man and saves me with a Jab and KOs his Friggin Lapras!!
Win due to no basics !! He gives me 2 free boosters and I pull: non holo
Aerodactyl and Holo Gengar! YAY!

Game 6: My Best Friend Andy Wants to Fight!
Andy is my buddy, and he uses a Gengar curse deck. He starts with Mime
and Mewtwo on bench, while I start with...no...Scyther all alone. He
goes and lays an N-R-G on that Mewtwo. I go and draw a Buzz, thank
god, Gust out his Mew2, retreat for Buzz, lay an NRG and T-Shock with a
paralyze! He goes, lays an NRG on Mew2, and tells me to go. I
lay DCE on the Scyther, and T-shock...with Paralyze! He goes, lays
another energy on Mew2, not knowing what I had in mind... I go, Scoop Up
Buzz, lay an NRG, a plus power, compy search for another, and Slash for KO!
Out comes Mime, lays an NRG and I go. I retreat, send out Buzz,
add an NRG and t-shock, no paralyze. He goes, puts down an NRG and
uses Meditate for 10. I go, draw Hit-man-Chan, lay an NRG on him, then
Shock with no paralyze. He goes, meditate for 20. I go, retreat
buzzman, send out Chan and Jab his Mime for the win.

Game 7: My Hot Girlfriend, Samantha, Wants to Fight!
I didn't like beating her, so I bought her lunch and a booster afterwards.
She lays Puffy the Vampire Slayer, and me my Hitman-Lee. I go first,
lay an NRG. Her turn. She lays another Puff on bench, adds
an NRG to it, and does nothing. My turn. I lay Hitman-Chan on
bench. Lay an NRG on Hitman-Lee and Stretch Kick Puffy. She
goes, lays an NRG on active Puff, puts me to sleep, but I wake up and High
Jump Kick her Puff for the KO. She goes, puts a Scyther on bench and
lullaby. No good. I wake, and stretch kick. She goes,
Grass NRG on scyther. I go, Stretch kick it. She goes, retreats
Puff, sends out Scyther, DCE, Swords Dance. I add Plus Power and High
Jump Kick her Scyther for KO. Out comes Puff. She lays a DCE on
it and pounds. I High Jump for win. =( she got pissed, but after
some free cards, lunch, and making out with her for a while she got over it.

Last 2 Games, 8 and 9: Wrestling Man Wants to Fight!
This guy was so cool. He likes Wrestling like me, (WWF of
course!) The first game he uses a Fighting Deck with some Fire
tossed in. He starts with Rhyhorn and me with Scyther and
Hit-Man-Lee on bench. He goes first, lays a Magmar on bench
and I go. I lay an NRG on the Hmonlee and he goes. He
lays NRG on the Magmar. I lay NRG on Hmonlee, retreat Scyther,
and Stretch kick. He uses a switch, sends out Magmar and uses Smog for
20 and a poison. DOH! I put an NRG on Hmonlee and High Jump
him. KO. He lays a fossil and evolves to Aero, but I don't
care...Im using a Hay! He sends out a Rhyhorn and puts a DCE.
Leer, heads. I go, DCE on Scyther. KO my Hmonlee cause
Poison. He puts an NRG on Aero, puts a fossil, evolves to Kabuto.
I put NRG and Plus Power on Scyther and K-Him-O. Out comes Aero.
DCE, and uses Wing Attack...no damage! (Resistance). I slash KO.
Out comes Kabuto. Nuff Said.
WIN 8-0
2nd Game:
Lord, my first loss. He quickly switches decks and now uses
Dragon-deck with lots of friggin fire. I start with nothing
but Buzz, Scyther, SER and fightiing NRG! Ack! I go with
Scyther, him with a Magmar. I lay the fighting NRG and he goes.
Lays an NRG on his benched Dratini. I bite my lip...lay a DCE and
slash Magmar. He goes, lays DCE on Dratini, Evolves to Dragonair.
DOH! I go, draw H-Man-Chan. Lay the NRG and SER his Dragon.
I Oak and Bill my ass off. Then I slash Magmar. He lays a
Fire NRG on Magmar and Smokescreen. by now, I am runnin out of cards
in my deck. I groan. I go, retreat Scyther and send out
Buzz. T-shock fails. He goes, lays a Growlithe, lays a Fire
energy on it and E-Volves it to Canine. Then he smokescreens. I
can't get my good trainers. I bill some more. Lay an NRG on
H-Man-Chan, T-shock...fails. he goes, lays an NRG on Arcanine.
Smokescreen. I go, lay an NRG on H-Man-Chan, Oak, SER the Arcanine.
This goes on till my Buzz is dead and his Arcanine is built, with a
Dragonite on bench. I jab his Arcanine, and then he Takes down, which
KOs me and does 30 to him. I sent out Scyther, Slash. Now, this
wasn't very bright, but...he uses Take Down (dont ask me) KOs himself and
me. I have H-Man-Chan and 5 cards left in deck...and he has a friggin
Dragonite. I can't do a thing and deck! (I was up in prizes
3-1!)
LOSS 8-1
Well, I did kickass. I also traded some good cards. This spoiled
redhead girl traded me my CD Promo Jigglypuff for a Neo Promo Set that came
in a cool case with 9 cards (the starter Pokemon in Gold/Silver like the
Little fire dude and Chicolita and the water alligator) it had their evolved
forms too, which were holo, so I ripped her off. I still haven't
gotten MY Jiggly in the mail, the one I traded I got from my friend Andy.
Anyway, I bought the new Pojo mag when I was there too, and I bought Brian
Brokaw's book. I had lots of fun, and next week I'm beating that
wrestler kid and get revenge.
