Games Galore Arlington, TX

First of all, This cardshop rules! It is home of many great players
such as Chipmunk, Scott Gerhardt, El Ravager, and many other players that
are just as good as the ones listed above but just not as well known. One of
the more famous players that goes to this cardshop is Scott Gerhardt. The
judge is also super cool(Dave Buchanan)he gives everyone hints, tips,
points, and even fixed my deck up a little bit for me. The store owners are
also very cool and its just a very nice environment to be in, and I'd
encourage anyone to come down here to Arlington and play just to see how
cool it really is! Okay well anyways enough about the cardshop onto the
Killer Deck report!

Damage Swap 2000:

Beat Down Pokemon:
3 Electabuzz-(Electabuzz is in here because of his incredible speed and
power. I try to use him to kill other Electabuzzs, Promo Mewtwos, water
pokemon(of course!), and to just have someone to beat on them while I evolve
and set myself up for stalling in the earlier stages of the game.)
2 Promo Mewtwos-(Mewtwo is great he is in here for many reasons. One being
to kill other Promo Mewtwos, Dittos, Hitmonchans, Muks, and anything else
with resistance to psychic. Another reason would be that he is great in late
game because he supplies himself with energy and can absorb alot of energies
if you can find a couple of "safe" turns for him to do so and retreat and
fuji to enlarge my deck ;).)
1 Ditto-(Ditto originally was going to be a Promo Mewtwo, but after some
thought and thankfully someone took one of them from me(I got him back but
it kinda forced me to playtest ditto which was better than I thought in this
deck.)I decided that he is really good and can do other things besides take
down Promo Mewtwos.)
3 Scythers-(Scyther is really great because he can take down Aerodactyls and
any other pokemon with a grass weakness.Scyther also has a very high HP for
a free retreater with a colorless attack.)
Stall Pokemon:
3 Abra-(Abra is super cool. He has free retreat and has a pretty decent
attack. He can also kill dittos pretty well, but he is mainly in here for
the evolution.)
2 Kadabra-(Kadabra is really great because he is another one hit killers on
those promo mewtwos. Kadabra is in here to evole and is purposely not
breeders so i can use him vs Promo Mewtwos, Dittos, and Muks.)
2 Alakazam-(Alakazam is the heart of this deck. His damage swap ability is
very very good. He can really stop someone from going beatdown on you. His
problem is his huge retreat and his easy killings for Muk and Promo Mewtwo
but if you didn't read close enough i through in a BUNCH of anti Promo
Mewtwo/ Muk stuff so... hopefully those will go down ;).)
1 Lickitung-(Lickitung is a very underestimated pokemon thats really should
be played more often and seen as more of a threat than people thing of it to
be. Lickitung is an excellent Ditto kill and also a Mr. Mime, but Lickitung
is really in here because of his huge hit points as a basic with a cheap
paralyzing attack(tongue wrap!) people at games galore would refer to him as
FAT STUFF! ;).
1 Kangaskhan-(Kangaskhan is a really great pokemon. He may not be the hitter
that everyone else is in this deck, but he is a big basic pokemon with high
HP and a built in carddrawing.)
Trainers:
2 Bills-(There is only 2 because this deck doesn't need a whole lot of card
drawing since it is a stall deck basically. Bill is a super good trainer
because it give you free cards with no draw backs.)
2 Professor Oaks-(Once again there is only 2 because this deck is really
more stall, but it is really good because it can save your butt when your
about to die and it can put those psychics in the graveyard for Mewtwo.)
4 Computer Searches-(Computer Search is very important to this deck.It not
only gets my Alakazams out for me but it also puts those psychics in my
graveyard pile. This card can also save your butt in need because you can go
for that oak or get a basic pokemon out when you need it or anything else
you may need.)
2 Item Finders-(I wish I could find room for more of these since they are so
damn good. These cards can be any trainer you want in late game for a pretty
cheap price in late game. This card should most definitely be in every deck,
IMHO.)
3 Lass-(If there was another heart in this deck she would be it. She is so
incredibly underestimated and extremely good. She can make sure your
opponent doesn't have that Scoop Up for that near dead pokemon next turn,
lay down that pokemon breeder or computer search against raindance, she can
stop an opponent from mass pluspowers when in need, and also she can stop
the opponent from Gust of Winding you.)
2 Defender-(This card is very highly underestimated, also. This card was
recommended to me by Dave Buchanan and thank god he did. This card is really
good especially with Promo Mewtwo so you don't have that one shot kill from
another Promo Mewtwo, Ditto, and is good with anyone else too. If for some
reason you never find a need to lay this card down you could save it to
attach to a pokemon before mr. fujiing to give you those few extra turns.)
2 Pokemon Centers-(This card is really good with Alakazam. With this card
you can build up that damage on your bench then swap them to pokemon without
energies and kiss all those damages goodbye read it and weep it baby! ;).
3 Energy Retrievals-(Since my deck skimps on the energy I threw in 3 of
these to get back my energies when I need them or cannot get a mewtwo out
there to bring them back for me.)
2 Mr. Fuji-(This guy is really great for stalling. With him I can build up a
pokemon with energies, swap him down to 10, maybe slap a couple spare
defenders on him and then build my deck up so they deck first.)
2 Gust of Winds-(This card is really great also. You can use it to get those
retreated damaged pokemon back up to kill them, or to get those Promo
Mewtwos or Dittos out there to kill them before they get to be a threat.
Also you can use these to bring out a high retreating pokemon to stall for a
few turns.)
1 Imposter Professor Oak-(This card is really great for stalling. Whenever
the opponent's hand gets really small I can imposter them to make them deck
faster. Also you can use this after people gambler in late game to build
their deck. This pretty much counters that bit of stalling.)
1 Pokemon Breeder-(This is in here to speed to Alakazam if I really haveto,
I usually like to just tech to him through Kadabra, but if need be I'll
speed him in a heartbeat. ;)
Energy:
7 Psychic Energy
6 Lightning Energy
3 Double Colorless Energy
I really liken this deck because of it's flexibility, if I ever need to I
can switch to stall mode/beatdown mode. I prefer to use it for stalling and
have built it to do so, but if you want it to be a beatdown deck... maybe
you should go look at Scott Gerhardt's Sponge deck. ENough about the deck
onto the tournament!

My First match was against Corey with his Raindance.:
Corey is an extremely good Raindance player, he has been a very
worth opponent on most occasions and too good of an opponent with his
raindance. The first game we played sucked because he got first turn I had
only an Abra he had Lapras and put two pluspowers and a water energy down
for the kill. ;( The next game wasn't that much better my hand had like no
energies in it. His Blastoise killed my Alakazam with 2 pluspowers, my
Electabuzz with one, and then just overpowered my Ditto, and then I had no
more basic pokemon. ;(
Match Record: 0-2 Overall record: 0-2

My second match was against a kid named Vincent with what he claimed to be
an anti-haymaker but was apparently anti-raindance:
Due to no stall stuff I gave this kid pure beatdown on both games.
The first game we played all he had was an Electabuzz. I then brought up a
powered up Electabuzz after he finished off my Scyther and killed his
Electabuzz and that was all the basic pokemon he had I win! The second game
I get mewtwo out early and oak to get quick psychics in the graveyard. Once
I had mewtwo powered up he kinda walked all over this poor kids deck. First,
I Gust of Winded a Ditto for the kill. Then with the same Mewtwo overpowered
a scyther he had out. Still with the same Mewtwo, Gusted a Electabuzz out to
beat it down. Then i Item findered a Gust and killed a ditto. He FINALLY
brought up a Mr. Mime and finished my Mewtwo. I bring up ditto damage him
then bring out Electabuzz and kill off Mr. Mime. His Electabuzz kills my
ditto, then my Scyther overpowers Electabuzz. That was the end of the match
the match, the kids deck was great, but he didnt know how to play it
correctly.
       Match record: 2-0 Overall record:2-2

The next kid is a very young kid who is respected for his skill level at
such a young age. His name is Billy and he was playing an anti-raindance:
In this game I start off with Scyther, and he starts off with
Electabuzz. I retreat and bring out Lickitung, MUAHAHAHAHA. Lickitung wraps
his tongue of death around buzz and didn't stop till Electabuzz was dead. He
then brought out Scyther and I Gust of Winded out a Mr. Mime and wrapped my
tongue around him till he died. He then puts out magnemite, I wrapped my
tongue round him 3x's but then he self-Ded on my Lickitung hurting
Lickitung. I retreat the lickitung and bring out Promo Mewtwo. Mewtwo kills
a Magnemite that I Gust of Winded.HE bring out a Myuu and kills off my poor
Mewtwo. Scyther then gets revenge on the poor Myuu. He brings out an
Electabuzz and kills off one of my Abras with a Gust of Wind, but I bring up
an ELectabuzz and beat down his Electabuzz for teh game. In the next game, I
kill a few early pokemon with an Electabuzz, Magnemite and someone else that
I cannot remember. Then I bring out Lickitung and Alakazam and switch into
stall mode early with tongue wraps and damage swapping. He runs out of cards
and I win game 2.
       Match Record:2-0 Overall record:4-2
****Dave has now cut the tournament down to the top 8 people****
I play a guy named Danny with a Fire/Fighting deck:
I get a Mewtwo powered up quickly and begin to run through his deck
in the first game. My first Mewtwo takes down 2 Machops, and 1 Diglett. Then
charmander comes out and overpowers. I bring out Scyther and kill it with
the help of a defender.. Scyther taking on charmander (who evolved to
charmeleon) how hilarious ;). I bring out a Lickitung and wrap my tongue
around a little Growlithe. Then with the help of Scyther Lickitung kills a
Charmander for the game! The second game I have Kangaskhan as an active he
has a machop. I use fetch and power up a Promo Mewtwo on my bench. He kills
my Kangaskhan but I get revenge with my Promo Mewtwo. Then after I overpower
a Growlithe, and he brings out a Ditto to kill Promo Mewtwo ;(, and I use
the MIGHTY Abra to take out Ditto, MUAHAHAHA. Scyther takes down a diglett
right after that, and then he brings out a Charmander and takes down
Scyther. I get revenge on the little Charmander with Electabuzz. I then
bring out scytehr and once again with defenders bring down a growlithe :D.
Match record: 2-0 Overall record: 6-2

****Dave then cuts the losers of the 4 matches and brings it to top 4****

I'm put against Corey again :( with his raindance:
Woohoo! early LAss but he still powers up an articuno and manages
to massacre a Ditto, Promo Mewtwo, and an Abra. ;( for the end of the game
no more basics. Woohoo! Another 1st turn Lassing! My 3 Electabuzz's take
control early in the game and then I bring out Lickitung up to the front
lines and begin stalling him down, but I get an Alakazam out and then I
Imposter Oak him when he had 12 cards in his deck and 0 cards in his hand,
MUAHAHAHA and stalled him out. Woohoo! 3 first turn Lasses in a row! DOH! He
top decks a Professor Oak ;(. He gets toise out like 3rd turn and brings him
out and powers through a Promo Mewtwo. He then takes down Abra with his
Blastoise. I bring out Electabuzz and finish off that Blastoise. He brings
out an Articuno and powers through Electabuzz. I then bring out Lickitung
and confuse him. He keeps the same Blastoise out and manages to flip heads
over and over and kills me before he decks.
       Match record:1-2 Overall record: 7-4

       Well I guess I did alright, I placed like 3rd or 4th, I don't know
which, but I'm pretty sure it was 4th but I could be wrong.. Anyways, Scott
Gerhardt in last weeks tournament encouraged me to write a Killer Deck
report even if I didn't win or anything, so I did.

PROPS and SLOPS!
PROPS to Dave Buchanan for recommending some random stuff and those
Defenders especially!
PROPS to Defender for being awesome!!
PROPS to Scott Gerhardt for encouraging me to write one of these no matter
if I lose.
SLOPS to Scott Gerhardt, Chipmunk, El Ravage, and Josh for not showing up,
you lazy peoples. ;(

Appreciate you reading the report!
