INTRODUCTION Hi, my name is Chang. I went to a fairly large tournament in Norristown, Pennsylvania at Heroes Universe (A fairily large cards and comic store with a huge game room in the back of the store. The tournament was held on July 17, 1999. There were exactly 63 people in the first tournament. A person would have win four battles to reach the final round and if you lost once you were out. THE DECK My deck is all fire deck with the exception of the colorless pidgey and its family. I call my FLASHFIRE deck because it has two objectives. 1 - start out by quickly knocking down my opponents with my eevees (and flareon) and pidgey (and all its evolutions) mean while building up my charizard for the final blows. 2 - and at the same time pissing my aponent off with those annoying little first attacks that eventually change the out come of the entire game. Well, anyways here's my deck: POKEMON 2 - Pidgeot 2 - Pidgeotto 3 - Pidgey 3 - Flareon 4 - Eevee 2 - Charizard 2 - Charmeleon 3 - Charmander TRAINER 1 - Super Potion 4 - Pokemon Trader 4 - PlusPower 4 - Energy Retrieval 4 - Bill ENERGY 4 - Double Colorless Energy 18 - Fire Energy THE TOURNAMENT At the tournament each contestant had to pay a small fee of two dollars each and the first prize was three packs of first edition pokemon cards and seven packs of first edition jungle cards. The runner up got three packs of first edition jungle. Battle #1: The first battle I fought was actually my toughest battle. My aponent had an all water deck. I started out with charmander and benched another one. This was bad because he started out with a poliwag. he won the flip an hit me for 20 damage the first turn because my charmander was weak against water. I then drew a charmeleon and the game went on. He quickly killed off bother my charmanders but by then I had traded my charmeleon for a Pidgeot and knocked my opponent down to size with eevee (witch i could'nt evolve into a flareon or he would get killed) I hurricaned a few of his pokemon into his hand but got my pidgeot killed and finished my opponent off with a final blow to his gyarados using quick attack. Close game but I won. Battle #2 My next opponent tried to quickly knock out my pokemon with a standerard electric/phsycic ZAP deck. But I got lucky and finished him off with my second turn flareon and using flamethrower on the third turn because I game flareon a double colorless energy the first turn. After that I just kept using energy retrevals and I ended up using flametrower (the new flamethrower deals 60 damage instead of 50 damage) every turn and I beat this apponent rather quickly. Battle #3 This battle was a long one. I remember my apponent using an electric/fighting deck my opponent was very fast but I knocked him out with my bigger cards like charizard and pidgeot. Over all I think this battle was a even one. I won of course. Battle #4 This time I had the advantage and finished my opponent off in four or five turns because he was using weak grass pokemon. I guess he was trying to poisin, confuse, and toxicate me but that did not work because I quickly burned his pokemon to smitherines. The Final Comformation: This guy had a water and electric deck and was a very tough apponet. My fire pokemon were weak against his water and my flying were weak against his electric. So the only thing I could realy use was eevee and that's what I did. I had four eevees out at one point but a few were quickly killed. The pluspowers really came in handy this battle and I would of lost but his final turn (the turn I would have gotten killed in) he ran out of cards, so there for I won the pokemon tournament and got my prize.
