Machop- Great starting PKMN, and great evolutions 8. Trainers- read over my list of PKMN if you don't understand, if you still don't understand, maybe Poke'mon isn't your game, huh? :) ---------------------------- Okay, here is how the tourney went. The tourney was held at a mall in Egg Harbor Township, NJ on July 17. There were about 45-50 attendees and it was single elimination. Before I start saying anything else, if you have a deck with more than 2 colors, don't use it. Just a hint. So many kids went away from the tourney today dissappointed because of their elimination. Don't let that be you, if you have a deck with more than two colors, please don't use it, unless you are prepared to lose, because rarely do those decks survive. I was walking around and saw at least 5-6 maybe more kids using 3, 4, and, yes sadly, even five color decks. NONE of them made it past Round 1. First round I played a guy (I will not be releasing names) about 12 years old. My hand was, as I recall, A Blastoise, squirtle, Poke'mon Breeder, and 4 water energy. He went first. He sent out a gastly. I made squirtle my starting Poke'mon (duh!) put down Poke'mon Breeder, raindanced like crazy, and got rid off his Poke'mon. I should have one after the first turn, because he didn't have any Poke'mon on his bench, but I let him off because he didn't know how to play, I beat him anyway. Round 2, I played a guy who didn't know the rules of sleep. I don't much recall much. (Nervousness at you first tourney gives you bad memory recall.) I know I went first. I had a Squirtle, and a Poliwag I think. I evolved Squirtle (Who kept being Hypnosised and awoken) into Wartortle, who did Bite and wiped out much of his Poke'mon. When I lost Wortortle, I think Poliwhirl finished him. This guy was cussing every time I wiped out a Poke'mon. I just kept my cool with a straight face. Round 3, A player was dropped becuase he cheated, so someone would get a "by" (Not have to play) for that round. The numbers were called, a somehow, I got a "By". I played a guy who was defeated to pass the time. He had a Grass/Fire Deck. We were tied for a while. 3 prizes left each, then he brought out Kangashkan. He had a Venusaur on the bench providing energy. And thus he killed off the last of my Poke'mon with Comet Punch. He saw the end of Blastoise. Machop saw the end of Kangashkan, Charizard saw the end of Machop... Round 4, they had to draw someone for a "by" again. I was so disappointed... It was me again. There were about ten people left by now. So I played a few more games for fun. Each game I eventually got out Blastoise if not right away, by luck I guess. Round 5 (Double-Elimination Finals.) I played a guy with a Colorless, Psychic, Fire Deck. Ohhh... Let's just say I beat him without a prob. Poor Wigglytuffs, I felt bad killing them. I had a Hitmonchan which just murdered all his colorless Poke'mon. Then came out the Charmeleon. I had been raising a Poliwag from the beginning, who was now Poliwrath and he finished of Charmeleon for the last prize. 1-0 so far. Now I was set to play the winner of the other match. Let's just say I had a very hard time getting energy this game. I had to evolve my Machop to Machoke and Squirtle to Blastoise (via Poke'mon Breeder.) just so I could stay alive. He killed off two Poliwags a Machop, and a helpless Squirtle before taking out the tougher guys. (Machoke and Blastoise.) Oops. He got first. He left. I was 1-1 now. Next was a guy from Texas. (I could tell my cards were tired by now because this game was absolutely pathetic.) My hand: Machop, Machoke, Poliwhirl, Blastoise, and 1 Fighting Energy. Draws only gave me Bills, Bills only gave me energy or useless evolution Poke'mon, I NEEDED A BASIC! I didn't get one and he ended up killing Machoke after paralyzing him, with a Nidoran and an Oddish. Pretty pathetic. He one because I had no more basics. Only to find afterwards all of them scrunched up at the bottom of my deck. So I placed third. Pretty good for my first tourney.
