On July 11th I competed with this deck at the Monthly Tournoment at the Days of Knights in Newark, Delaware and there about 16-18 people competing in the Tourney. In general this is just a supped up Raindance Deck. It did fairly well and I'm already working on an upgraded version. Pokemon: 4x Squirtle 2x Wartortle 2x Blastoise 4x Magikarp 2x Gyarados 3x Farfetch'd 2x Lickitung 1x Chansey Trainers: 4x Professor Oak 3x Bill 4x Computer Search 4x Pokemon Breeder 2x Pokemon Trader Energy: 20x Water Energy 3x Double Colorless Energy Tourney Report: The style was single elimination, and after you were eliminated you could just play around for fun with other people who were out. GAME ONE: This was by far the easiest of the games. I drew a man who had to be at least 40, and was using his sons Grass/Could be something else deck. He barely had a clue what was going on, and it was just a plain old walk in the park. I drew an awesome opening hand and was able to have Blastoise out on the second turn. Coupled with a Prof. Oak I drew 5 Water Energies and tore up his poor Pokemon. He actually managed to get a Venusaur out there, but with no energy to power him up Venusaur was fried. He did manage to use Energy Trans what energy he had on Venusaur to a Pinser, which was promtly destroyed with one Hydro Pump. He ran out of basics and I won by default, although with a fully powered up Blastoise out there he never really stood a chance. GAME TWO: This game I drew one of two people I didn't want to face. His name is Tyler Miller and was the person who I played the most and traded the most with. Not to mention he is my arch-rival so, I wouldn't mind beating him. Tyler used a water/electoric that did stand a chance of thrashing me, but I got a great draw. I drew a Squirtle, a Breeder, and energy. I sent out Squirtle, against a Voltorb. I drew my first card and didn't get anything I could use. So I layed down a Water energy and bubbled Voltorb. Thnak God I got heads, because another tackle attack and I would have been finished. Tyler laid down another Electric energy on Voltorb and became unparalyzed. I laid another energy down on Squirtle and drew a card, again no Blastiose or any other basics. He flipped the coin, and again heads. He lays another energy down on Voltorb, and he makes a key error, he doesn't evolve him into Electrode while he could. I draw my card knowing that this game can't last much longer, and....BOOM! It was a Blastoise, I play the Breeder and get Blastoise, Rain Dance and get him hooked up with 5 energies. Hydro Pump and he's gone. With no basics on his bench, again I win by default. GAME THREE: THE SEMI FINALS Now with only four survivors, I come against the lowest form of deck I've ever seen...and also one of the most efficiant. It was the Mr.Mime deck, and I made two key errors when trying to deal with this deck. First off I went Oak crazy, quickly speeding through half of my deck. Now I did have a fully powered up bench, but no way to touch him because he was hiding behind Mr. Mime and just Damage Swaped away any hits I managed to score. Second was the way I approached this situation, with the only thing I could, a Lickitung. Lickitung came out about half way through my deck, and I immediately put him into to play. His main weakness was his slow rate of attack, 10 damage with Tongue Wrap and paralyzation was useless. I couldn't get any energy for Supersonic, so i just toughed it out. He damage swaped away any damage dealt and I was in over my head. I eventually decked myself and was out of the tourney. GAME FOUR: PURE TERROR While this game was not for the tourney it reinforced the strength of my deck after I lost. I faced a kid with a fighting deck, and it was a romp. I just got Blastoise out there and let him start pounding on them, killing three of him Pokemon. Finally he forfeit, and gave me my remaining prizes. Well that was how it went. I tied for 3rd and hung in there while Mr. Mime killed me. On a brighter note, the kid who beat me, who's name is Albert, went on to win the tourney. Which basically brings an end to my report. -C.J.
