My killer deck: 9x Fighting Energy 2x Hitmonchan 11x Psychic Energy 3x Abra 2x Kadabra 1x Alakazam 2x Mewtwo (to take down those power houses like Charizard and Blastoise) 4x Double Colorless (To power those colorless that need 4 energies! And get farfetch'd out faster) 3x Farfetch'd (of course) 1x Kangaskhan 1x Chansey (of course again) 1x Jigglypuff ( I was trying this guy out in this deck, (I had a clefairy in here in its place) it happened that I didn't even run across the jigglypuff in the tournament!) 2x Item Finder 2x Super Potion 1x Energy Removal 3x S.E.R. 1x Prof. Oak (I know 1's a little risky but it worked!) 3x Energy Retrieval 3x Switch 2x Bill 2x Gust of Wind 1x Scoop Up Well, it's been a couple of weeks since I started this, and it's ben a few more since the tourney, but I got sidetracked, and I couldn't finish it right away, but here it is: It was a 2 week tourney, well 2 Saturdays, it was only supposed to last 4 hours, and it started going overtime so Matt, the books-a-million employee that was running the tourney, he also is in charge of Pokemon League, said that we would have to finish the tourney next week. The first round went very quickly, I was facing Col, A regular at Pokemon League, and I knew he wasn't all that great, he is good mind you just not as good as me, I had played him before. I felt kinda sorry for him but he wasn't to annoyed. I can't remember most of the first week, but I know that round 2 was against my friend Kyle, I got the worst draw and lost without killing any of his pokemon! It was the major coincidence that I also had to face him for the tournament! The third round I got a guy disqualified, he came withe this hunk of about 80 cards in his hand and I told him a couple of times to get his cards to the right number, it really seemed like it was an accident, but he came back and on like the third time I called deck check and he still had 5 extra cards, so he was disqualified, Matt had seen me telling him to get his cards right so he didn't just give him a warning. I kinda feel sorry about it, but Matt said that was the guy the thought had stolen some boosters a couple of weeks earlier. The other rounds were all against people I didn't know, and I didn't think of getting their names. =^( <-- sorry to you guys. The second week I remember a bit better. My first fight was against Slater, he's really nice and he's a good collector, but he's not a super great deck builder. His strategy with his deck and the way he played it was really good but there weren't enough trainers so I slaughtered most of his pokemon, he didn't kill one of mine. He has close to 1 or 2 hundred (not different, just some that are doubles) Japanese pokemon cards most from gym and they are really interesting to look at. FINALS (Bum,Bum,Bummmmm!) My friend Nick, a very good player was playing Kyle and My friend Jeremy was playing a kid I hadn't seen often, he could have been new, anyway Nick and Jeremy both lost and it was a toss up between me, the new guy, and Kyle. Me and the new guy got heads, Kyle got tails. My first draw was a farfetch'd a double colorless, and an energy, and some other cards. I laid the farfetch'd, he laid a scyther. I went first, drew a card, and laid the DC and the basic energy, pot smash for 30! He drew, and laid a grass, my turn, I drew, pot smash, scyther has 10 hp left. He draws, and lays another grass, swords dance. My turn, no escape! I pot smashed and he was out of pokemon! Final match! Kyle and I agreed that if he won I would get one of the five Jungle boosters and vice versa. I drew another farfetch'd, dc, and basic energy hand! I go first. From there on it was just a flash of cards and damage counters. I killed all but his last pokemon with the farfetch'd then used double edge with my Chansey for the win! The other prizes were a pokemon window sticker, and a pokemon gym leader t-shirt that the Pokemon League organizers wear (exclusive!), and (yes more!) A big ol' thick Pokemon League poster that they have to advertise for Pokemon League! Well that was it! ¤Jonathan Pharis¤ Fireberd45@aol.com
