Hi my name is Daniel Traywick. I recently participated in a large scale tournament in which I took first. Little Rock, Arkansas The Game Room Saturday 17, 1999 If you have the cards, or the means to trade or buy them, get them, Assemble the deck, and play it smart. Okay, here is the New Age Haymaker.... Pokemon = 12 4 Hitmonchan 4 Scyther 4 Tauros Trainer = 24 4 Bill 1 Computer Search 4 Energy Removal 4 Gust of Wind 4 Plus Power 2 Professor Oak 2 Scoop Up 3 Super Energy Removal Energy: 4 Double Colorless Energy 11 Fighting Energy 9 Grass Energy Okay, now to the tournament recap.... 44 people attended. It was to be 5 rounds of swiss tournament. Because of the last tournament I went to(which I did horrible) I was ranked low on the totem pole. I guess I'll just work my way up. Round 1: vs. Eric Game 1: He is playing a mono-fighting deck. He starts off with a Mankey, he peeks, he scratches, he's done. My first turn Hitmonchan as basic, play plus power, play fighting energy, jab for 30, game. Game 2: Was pretty much the same. But he mounted up some Rydons and Onixes for my mean Scyther to hack away. Standings: 2-0, match 1-0 Round 2: vs. Johnathan Game 1: He is play a duel color water and grass. He starts with a Weedle, I start with a Scyther. I go first. Play a grass energy use swords dance. He plays a grass energy tries to poison, but only manages 10. I use slash for 60. Game. Game 2: He plays a few Wartotles with no energy to use them. Hitmonchan with some plus powers demolishes him. Game. Standings 4-0, match 2-0 Round 3 vs. Micheal Game1: He gets excited because his deck(psychic/fire) is my decks two weaknesses. He starts with an Abra, and I start with a Tauros. I go first. I play double colorless energy, and a plus power. I stomp for 30+. Game. Game2: He said his deck was fire/psychic, but he had more colorless pokemon than anything. Hitmonchan with a Tauros makes quick work in about 6 rounds. Game. Standings 6-0, match 3-0. Looking good as tied with top seed. Match 4: vs. Robert Game 1: I start getting nervous because he is playing a Turbo-Blastoise. He starts with a Squirtle, and I start with a Tauros. I go first. I play a double colorless and manage to stomp for 20 damage. He goes, plays a water energy, potions, computer searches for a Blastoise, but realizes he doesnt have a Breeder to play it with. He bubbles for 10, flips, not paralyzed. My turn, play a grass energy on Tauros, plays a plus power. And rampages for 40, killing the Squirtle. Game. Game 2: Started off by mulligan 3 times. By the end of his first turn, he has two fully loaded Blastoise with both having 5 or 6 energy. I lose. Game 3: The pressure cooker. My speed vs. his power. I go first. I start with a Hitmonchan. Only to have him mulligan 3 times. I keep drawing. I start. I play a fighting energy, plus power , and computer searched for another plus power. Played plus power, and Jabbed for 40 killing that same squirtle. Game to me. Whew! Standings 8-1, match 4-0 Match 5: vs. Tyler. Game 1: He plays a mono-fighting Haymaker deck. But his fighting cant stand up to Scyther's -30 resist to fighting. I end up killing many diglets and dugtrios along the way. Game. Game 2: He played strong until 3 Scyther's hit the board after professor oaking, and 3 bills. He concedes. Standings 10-1, match 5-0 I went into the finals undefeated, with a bye the first round I get to watch the match, that would decide who got to play me. Turbo Blastoise vs. Mono-Fighting Haymaker. The Haymaker won, and Tyler was once again my opponent. Match 6: vs. Tyler (semi-finals) Game 1: He plays well, energy removed and super energy removed all my energy until I scoop up my Scyther, I replay it, and then Oak. I drop two more scythers. And a grass energy. The following turn the fourth scyther joined his brothers, he once again conceded. Standings 12-1, Match 6-0 On to the finals. Finals: vs. Tony New guy I just met, pretty cool and enjoyed playing him. Game1: He is playing a Psychic/Clefairy deck. He starts with Abra. And I start with Hitmonchan, I plus power, fighting energy, game. Game 2: He got out with an Alakazam eventually by removing all of my energy. But soon a stomping Tauros with a couple of plus powers tore through some clefairies and a few kadabras. I win by drawing all my prizes. First time I had done that all day..... And thats my deck, my story, and my tourny recap. If you make this deck, let me know how it does, additions you made, or even what you thought about it.
