When I saw the new rules under the PoJo picks in Card Strategies, I decided to tell the world about the deck that dominated at the tourney at Heroes Unlimited in Roselle, IL on Saturday. It was strange, but the Electric/Grass prevaled. They guy who inspired me to make my deck and use his strategy won the tourney quickly and easily. This silences the holo card debate, because this deck has none. I believe that this deck will see plenty of variations, asuming you, the reader, give it a try. Below is the deck and strategy according to me. I have tweaked this deck in 3 scenarios. Anyway, here it is, the Speed and Flexibility of Speedrill. Speedrill by MW Pokemon - 20 4 Weedle 4 Beedrill 4 Voltorb 4 Electrode 4 Electabuzz Energy - 24 12 Grass Energy 12 Lightning Energy Trainers - 16 3 Bill 2 Professor Oak 4 Computer Search 4 Pokemon Breeder 3 Energy Removal Strategy - Speedrill is my latest creation. My inspiration for this deck came from a guy at the tournament. A great deck builder, might I add. His grass/lightning deck seemed strange, as it revolved around breeding a Beedrill, and getting support from the speedy Electabuzz, Electrode's quick 50 and ability to slap on 2 energies fast, and a small Removal aspect to back it up. It seemed that it all fell into place. When he made it to the final four, I was surprised. By the time I got knocked out of the final four when I was playing my straight Fight Machamp/Hitmo/Dragonair Removal deck, he had already been waiting for his opponent. In 3 turns he stomped a Rain Dancer for the win. On the way home, I really wanted to make and try his deck. I traded my Machamp for a fourth Beedrill and Breeder, and I was ready. I tryed this deck against its most obvious weakness: a Fire/Fighting with Machamp/Hitmo/Ninetales with a quick Charmander in there. The beauty of this deck is with not only its speed, but its flexibility. Match 1 - vs. Fire/Fighting I thought I had this match lost. My opening hand was a Grass, Breeder, Weedle, Voltorb, Electrode, Electrode, Pokemon Trader. Great, Voltorb and Weedle. I started weedle, he plays Machop. I go first. I draw a Removal. I sit there and think. Yes! I Pokemon trade Electrode for Beedrill, then slap on a Grass. Sting, Tails. He Bills, slaps an energy, Low Kick. I draw a Comp Search, Breed to Beedrill, evolve Voltorb, Buzzap for Grass, Sting the Machop to death. He brings out Charmander with 1 energy. Scratch for 20, no energy for ember. I draw a Lightning, Comp Search for Oak, and get Electabuzz and two Lightning energies, among other things that I can't remember. I slap a Lightning on Electabuzz, retreat Beedrill for free, and shock and punch away the win. So fast, he couldn't even get to those 3 Hitmo. And besides, Beedrill's resistant. Match 2 - vs Rain Dance This I was supposed to win, a Gyarados/Blastoise rain dance. Both his weaknesses I covered. I start with a hand full of Grass, a Buzz, a Weedle, and an Oak. A play Weedle active, he plays Squirtle with Seel on the bench. I attach, Oak, get a Beedrill, Comp Search, 2 Lightning, a Voltorb, a Grass and another Comp Search. I Poison Sting for 20 cuz of Poison. He goes, bubbles me for Paralyze. He's down to 30. I draw Electrode, evolve, and Comp Search for a Breeder, discarding another Comp Search and a Grass. I breed Beedrill, retreat for Free, attach to Buzz and kill Squirtle. He brings Seel out, Magikarp on the bench, as I start having an energy fit with my draws. Grass, Lightning, Grass, Grass, Lightning, Lightning and so on. I build up Electrode, finish of Seel right when Gyarados comes out with 1 energy. I remove it, and retreat Buzz. Electric Shock wins the day. Match 3 - vs. Haymaker Another quick deck, the so-called king of the fast deck. He starts Hitmo, and I get one of the two possible God Hands with this deck: 2 Weedles, a Breeder, a Beedrill, a Voltorb and a Voltorb, and I draw a Pokemon Trader (The other God Hand would be Voltorb, Buzz, Electrode, and a 4 electric energies). He goes first, and jabs my active weedle. I Pokemon Trade for an Electrode, then let him go. He Bills, KOs my weedle as he Bills twice. I draw a Grass, bring in Weedle. Attach Grass, breed to Beedrill, evolve to Electrode, Buzzap for Grass, Poison Sting for 50 w/poison. He draws a buzz, and stops building his two energy Hitmo. The Buzz gets a Fight, and I go. Draw a Electabuzz, place it, KO Hitmo. Out comes buzz, TPunch, 40. I draw lightning, Poison Sting Electa for 50. Next turn, he does thunderpunch, koes beedrill, and is down to 60 as Farfetch'd gets a fight on his bench. I get a Grass on Electa, then KO his Electa. Farfetch'd comes out, and he super removes me, slaps a DCE on Farfetch'd and plays Hitmo. To make a long story short, I got Electrode pumped on the bench after Hitmo slowly Jabs down Electa (removal made it slow), and Electrode came in for the finish (he supered my Electrode, so I had to Buzzap the other to finally kill his Hitmo, Farfetch'd and finally Chansey). The only deck I have yet to try this on is a stall, but with Removal, I think I could detroy it. I strongly believe this is the next superpower in the 3 powerful decks. Beware of Beedrill. Speed and flexibility make this deck unbelievable. Give it a try, and thanks to the guy who at teh tournament who inspired me to make this deck.
