updated 4/8/99 Pojo, I just played in a touranment! I didn't do to bad but I lost in the fourth round. I played all kids from my school so this might have affected how well I did. This is how it went. In my first round I played a kid that had a deck centered around fire and plant. I almost lost to him because he had two charizards in his deck. My polywhirl used double slap each time and got two heads so he ended up losing, and I was the one expected to lose. After this it gave me a little more confidence. This next deck I played was centered around psyscic and fire. I was expected to lose this battle too. The cards that really threatened me were Haunter, Kadabra, and Alkazam. He didn't have a charizard in his deck like I thought he would. The next deck I played against was around was fighting and water. He had two dugtrio's. Thank heven for venasaur! On my fourth round I played a deck made of fire and fighting. My hand that I first drew was really bad! I only had one pokemon and that was bulbasaur and I had no plant energy in my hand. Great I thought as I saw him flip over a magmar. On my first draw I got a plant energy. I thought I might pull this off after all. Too bad, he whipped out a double colorless. I went down without a fight. My next card was a starmie. That was the game I was supposed to win too. I couldn't believe it. Now that you know how I did this is what my deck consists of: 10 water energy 2 polywag's 1 polywhirl (double slap can take out a charizard....if you're lucky) 1 seel (weak attacks but lots of hp's) 1 dewgong (high damage attacks for a pretty low cost) 2 staru's (slap does forty damage against a fire pokemon) 1 starmie (could have a few more attacks and recover is pretty good) 1 squirtle 1 wartortle (bite is pretty good) 1 blastoise (hydropump is really good and it's pokemon power is pretty useful too) 10 plant energy 1 koffing ( it either poison's them or they are confused) 2 nidoran's ( horn hazard can do a lot of damage) 1 nidorino (horn drill is one of my favorite attacks) 1 bulbasaur (leech seed keeps him healthy) 1 ivysaur ( poisonpowder does twenty damage and the pokemon is poisoned) 1 venasaur ( AWESOME pokemon power and pretty powerful attack) 2 rattata's (bite does twenty damage with just one card) 1 raticate (super fang drains half their energy and when they get down to twenty use bite) 1 pidgey ( move their pokemon out that don't have any or enough energy on them and also does ten damage too) 1 pokedex ( good for a the beginning of your turn if you don't get a lot of energy) 1 gust of wind (if you don't have your pidgey out yet) 2 bills (the more cards you draw the better the chance of you getting the cards you want) 2 pokemon trader's (to get your evolution cards after you use your bills and pokedex) 4 energy removals (these work well at the beginning of the game because your opponent cant get their energy down and can also be annoying) 1 switch ( to get your damaged pokemon to the bench if he has no energy cards on him) 4 potion's (super potions you have to discard energy and two potions = a super potion) 1 pokemon center ( to heal all your pokemon after subbing them in and out of battle) 2 super potion's (when your potion's just won't cut it) If you have any suggestions for my deck please feel free to E-Mail me at JVKIRWAN@juno.com Thanks!
