High Tide v. 1.0 By: D. Rees (oodevin@aol.com) This is an all-water deck that I use a lot. I haven't tried it in any tourneys yet, but it worked well against several of my friend's decks. Occasionally, you'll get a bad draw and lose, but you should expect that from any deck. Also, a really good grass or lightning deck may give you some trouble, but it's a great deck especially against those fire-loving players out there. The deck contains: Energies 27 Water Energies (always want to have enough energy) 1 Double Colorless Energy (nice, but I don't like to use too many of those) Pokémon 3 Squirtles (okay, but they're just here to evolve) 2 Wartorles (strong pokémon- move that hurts 40) 2 Blastoises (this guy rules w/ a move that can hurt 60 wo/ getting rid of energy and his pokémon power's nice, too) 4 Seels (60 hp makes it an okay basic pokémon, but wait 'till it evolves) 4 Dewgongs (a fairly common card w/ a move that hurts 50 and one that hurts 30 & can paralyze) 2 Staryus (a move that hurts 20 w/ only one energy attached is helpful) 1 Starmie (recover's nice and star freeze can paralyze along with damage) 2 Magikarps (totally here to evolve) 1 Gyarados (one move does 50 damage and another does 40 & can paralyze) 2 Poliwags (basic pokémon w/ a move that does up to 30 damage) 2 Poliwhirls (move that w/ luck does 60 damage) 1 Poliwrath (move that can do 50 damage and one that does 40 and removes an energy) 1 Dratini (just to evolve- resistance to psychic's nice, though) 1 Dragonair (can attack for 60 damage or do 20 & remove an energy) Trainers 1 Pokémon Breeder (make those Squirtles and Poliwags fully evolve wo/ stage 1 card) 1 Full Heal (helps quite a bit) 1 Super Potion (always handy to have) 1 Clefairy Doll (is a great decoy-type card... many people just don't use it effectively) Final Statement: This one still may need a little refinement. The Staryu/Starmie chain and Dratini/Dragonair chain can always be replaced by something better like if you have another Gyarados or Blastoise. Also, this deck lacks very strong trainers. If you have a computer search or something else to add, go ahead. This deck is just an idea to help you make a deck. If you have ideas to make it better, e-mail me at oodevin@aol.com.
