This is our (my brother's and my) third submission to this page. This is another deck from the creator of Water+Fighting, or Denial (it's in the April list). It is a Psychic and Fire deck, and revolves around two extremely powerful Pokemon - The awesome Charizard, and the mysterious Alakazam. Granted, both of these are Stage 2 Pokemon, but this deck is designed with more than enough to keep you running should you not draw them early. I will detail playing this deck at the end of the page. Fire Pokemon 2x Charizard (Fire Spin. 'Nuff Said) 3x Charmeleon (Slash is usable w/ any energy, Flamethrower will (usually) get you out of a tight spot) 4x Charmander (50 HP in a basic, and Ember is decent on a soon-to-be evolved guy) Psychic Pokemon 2x Alakazam (Damage Swap! It RULES! - plus, confuse ray makes for some drunk-ass pokemon for your opponent) 3x Kadabra (a 50(!) damage attack in a stage 1, no discard, no coin, no nothing - recover can save your butt too) 4x Abra (Paralysis is possible, and no retreat cost - if you lose a guy and don't know who to bring out, bring out an Abra - it can be swiched for anything else on your turn) Colorless Pokemon 4x Chansey (dump that damage here! - also - Double-edge is a Kamikaze attack) Trainer 2x Switch (get that charizard out there!) 2x Gust of Wind (insta-kill vs. anything if you've got Charizard out - 'cept Chanseys and other Charizards) 2x Pokemon Trader (Trade that end-game Charmander for an Alakazam *evil grin* - also - get that Charizard/Alakazam/Chansey combo out even faster) 1x Energy Retrieval (Get the energy back after Fire Spin) 2x Bill (Free cards! yes!) 1x Professor Oak (more free cards! yes!) 2x Pokemon Center (I'll explain this one in detail on the bottom) Energy 2x Double Colorless Energy (For Charizard and Chansey) 12x Fire Energy 12x Psychic Energy So there you have it. This deck, in case you couldn't tell, is designed to get your Charizard out and keep it there. You accomplish this by having a benched Alakazam along with a few Chanseys to soak up that damage. When your Charizard gets hit, just move the damage onto the Chanseys, keeping your Charizard alive and well, and blast away with Fire Spins. One of the key cards in this deck is Pokemon Center. Yep, you heard right, Pokemon Center. One of the most underused cards in the whole set. Here goes. Picture this - your opponent has managed to knock your Charizard down a bit, and you are out of Pokemon to drop the damage on - somehow, you need to pull this game off. Move all of the damage off of your charizard onto whatever you can - Alakazam, Chansey, even Abras or Charmeleons - it doesn't matter. Once you have all of the damage off of Charizard, use Pokemon Center. Instant heal for EVERYONE, and you're back to a fresh start. You'll lose all the energy off of everyone that had damage on it, but you really weren't intending to use that Chansey as your active, were you? The other trainer cards in this deck are mainly used to set up this combo faster and to take out annoying guys (Like Blastoise - watch it when your opponent starts pulling a ton of water energy onto their Wartortle - kill it there with Gust of Wind). Anyway, the drawbacks to this deck are that it is REALLY expensive... but that's about it. You'll whoop fighting decks, plant decks, and other psychics (for the most part). Lightning is neutral - it really has no weakness or resistance to fire or psychic, though with Fire Spin, you won't need it - there's not a lightning Pokemon that can stand up to it without Defender. Remember, the key is to set this up fast - use Chanseys to stall if you have too. Enjoy, -Ghost_LD@Hotmail.com
